I have been working on a 1966 cj5. As I am in the final stages I have been replacing the shift boots. Trans, PTO, and the transfer case shifter located on the passenger side toward the firewall. I have had no luck even finding even a picture of the shifter in this location. this boot is small and is about 4" in circumference at the bottom. I have the ring that holds the thing down. Am I missing something?

  4. http://compare.ebay.com/like/140520297475?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar This is another style of boot for the dana 18 tcase. I think this is the one your asking for. But beware, DO NOT BUY AN OMIX ADA ONE!!!! I bought an omix ada one and it literally lasted 1 week before it was ripped. you should look for either a NOS one or a USA made one. The same with Omix Ada trans shifter boot, Do not buy Omix Ada brand my tranny one also ripped after 3 weeks and was never very pliable. I bought a NOS black one on ebay that was packaged in 1957 and it still is working great after 5 months and is far more pliable than the Omix ada one ever was.

    Mmm, NOS. Buy extras.

Yes, the Omix boots tear easily.

One week is not too bad. I bought an Indian made from the jeepdoctor (Krage) and it ripped to pieces on installation. It was a piece of %/+(. Had to put back the 45 years old original one, it was still usable. Than I ordered a US made supple one made from real rubber from Debella.

Yeah. I bought a rubber air cleaner hose from Krage, =junk. The 55 year old original was better.

Is this a dual or single stick shifter?
The dual stick shifter is not really near the fire wall, it is near the transmission stick.
The single stick shifter is near the firewall, and I have not seen or heard of a single stick shifter on one that old.
My '70 has a single stick and I converted it to a twin stick.
This is my floor pan, top right hole from the transmission opening is the single stick shifter hole.
The bump out hole that is part of the transmission shifter is where the twin stick is suppose to be, or close.

    Olyeler,
I do not have the original, or have not seen it in quite a while.
I believe it is a flat piece of rubber with a hole in it.

below floor pan picture is the picture of the linkage, is yours the same?

I have not tried to get one yet.

nice job on the photo link. to include the photo here, look to the right of the photo on photobucket, select the box to the right of the words "IMG code" and it will copy it for you. then paste in your post and the picture will appear.
