Seats i scrubbed down with some armor all polish. Bolted it back in. So now I've gotta wait until I can get a carb rebuild kit. I hate crusty old Midwest vehicles

Today Weber carburetors are made in Spain and imported by Redline in the USA.
You can buy a kit for the 258 that's either the 32/36 mm progressive unit or a 38 mm conventional unit.
It's probably one of these.
If you contact Redline, they should be able to identify the unit and sell you the parts you need.

The numbers are the venturi diameters in mm.
A progressive 2V carburetor has a primary and a secondary, like your typical 4V carb.
32 for the primary and 36 for the secondary.
Supposed to be more economical.
The 38 has both throttle flaps on the same shaft, and is the performance option.

i got off the phone with redline, they do not sell anything, they directed me to a wholesaler, carbs unlimited, and i bought a rebuild kit. hopefully this is not going to be a hard rebuild. after a few carter YFs i am not so intimidated about rebuilding a carb.

Rebuild kit for the 32/64 proved that is not what i have. BOO. no markings on the carb anywhere except 12 on the bottom of the butterflies. I think it may be a 38. But need to talk to redline before I spend another 70 bucks on a wrong carb kit
