Agreed, I really dislike the T18 in my CJ (except for hard trail use where it really shines). I've done a lot of miles in old Fords with the 435 and I really like them.

Are you using/running any Herm made components in your Jeep?

He rebuilt the overdrive that's in it. His new dual pot master cylinder kit works really well and is much easier to install than an original cj5 bracket. I have installed one.

I know he is already on his third set of twenty, four cylinder four speed setups. So there are already about fifty of them out there.

If it's actually a T-18, presumably you could get the later Ford transmission with the right-and-down reverse leg.
The transmission adapter looka like it's drilled for both Ford and Jeep cases.
