I've Got It Bad........ I Bought A 1975 Cj6!

I have been slowly acquiring parts for this build.
A set of 37's popped up too cheap to pass up.
Guy went another direction with his build, stored indoors with 2024 date code.

37's compared to the cute 33's on my 69'.

I did see that Rich “barley” survived, but I’ve been to your place and I’m sure I could find a place to work/ hide a new to me Jeep from my wife.
I've already offered to store/hide a CJ6 jeep project for you.
You just need to come up with a good story so your wife doesn't hate me when she finds out.

Hey Kyle I need you to install a Howell fuel injection in my jeep. Do you have space in your shop. I don't eat much and I don't take up much room
My shop is a long ways to come to install fuel injection.
I would not mind helping someone fine tune an installed system, not that there is much that can be done.
Really anyone who is going to run EFI should install it themselves so that they have a good understanding of how the system works.
This will greatly benefit them if they are out in the woods and have an issue with it.
A Howell system is about a 6 hour install on a clean jeep and way less intimidating once you get the harness laid out.

Continuing with the theme of being patient and letting good things find me.....
I picked up a front D44 housing/axle shafts that was set up to go into a 68 Commando.
A tape measure across the top of the inner C's is 46" on center. Knuckles with spindles and hubs should bring this axle out to 59"-60"ish wide.

Score!

I'm close to that with 31.5's and 3.54's with my current 465. But no where near that crawl ratio, but let's be real; it's a Wagon. My stock D300 will work just fine for mild trail sorties.
Freeway cruising in a CJ? There was a time when I would, and did...
When I bought my CJ5, I had to drive it on highways, with my son following me, max speed was slow, but cool. It took 12 hours quite non-stop to arrive at my farm, full night, exhausting. On my right I remember a line of trucks, like a moving wall; I was quite slow, staying on my right like a good boy.
They use to say hello. First and last time on a highway.Jeep highway.jpg

Introducing the CJ6 Axles to each other.
Narrowed J4500 35 spline D60 for the rear.
Narrowed D44 for the front.
The severely bent D44 rear housing will be sacrificing its ARB air locker/gearset to new front axle. The anti wrap bar bracket will be cut off and installed on the new rear axle.

The Front D44 is narrowed to 46-1/4" across the center of the upper ball joint holes.
After measuring the other complete wagoneer D44 that I have, it appears the the entire outer assembly adds 6-3/4" to each side of the axle.
With everything assembled the front axle should be roughly 59-3/4" wide wheel mount surface.
The rear D60 is 35 spline from a 1971 J4500. It has been shortened on the drivers side and utilizes 2 passenger side axle shafts. The axle housing work was done by WFO.
For now I will be running the 12"x2" rear drum brakes with e brake.
