It has flat fenders; do posts about the old 4WD wagons go here?

If not, please point me into the correct sub-forum.

I have a line on one fairly close to me. It has what appears to be an AMC v8 engine. There are four sticks on the ‘hump’: transmission, t-case, then what? Overdrive? PTO?

The seller hasn’t been gushing with details but has sent a pile of pics.

The asking price is $1800. It runs but needs fuel delivery work; pump and/or carburetor.

Correct spot...a few wagon and truck owners here. Glenn has a fabulous one....I have a 58 with sbc swap. Love pics....transfer case would have 2 shifters, one for the transmission, and most likely the 4th is an OD, but could be a PTO for winch.

If I wasn't into the originality I'd have done the sbc swap when I bought my wagon. It's definitely a nice engine choice, drove a wagon in the late '60s with one. It had the right amount of power.

I’ve asked the owner to call me so I can ask questions. He doesn’t have the title, so hoops have to be jumped through to get one. I hope a registration card exists somewhere where I can get my hands on it.

I’ve no idea what model year it is; may I presume that the VIN will tell me?

The frame appears to be solid, the body has some rust,, the interior is gone except two seats (not original), and some of the glass is broken. No biggie, as it looks as though it’s all flat glass…

Should be able to get ball park at least. Pictures can help us a lot, generally a range of years can be determined by body features.

Does the front of the grill have a 4" round hole on the right side? Is there a metal tag on the driver's side below the seat on the riser? Should be seen when you open the door, if it's there. Can you get a clear picture of the dash? Going by what I see it's around a '57.

Hmmm… I *thought* it was an AMC engine but now am leaning towards Ford. 289?

Going by the dash and grill picture I'd say '55 or early '56. This info is from a catalog from Willys America in California.

Did you find the serial number plate?

I haven’t yet laid eyes on it. There’s a square hole on the passenger side of the cowl behind the grille, 3-4 inches across.

That shifter is OD for sure. Left to right....Transmission, OD, 2WD/4WD, low range/high range.

The hole I'm referring to wouldn't be on the one you're looking at.
