Tuxedo Park Registry

QUOTE="Beach66Bum, post: 1844617, member: 91864"]Wow! What a find! Have you tried to post pics using the “ Upload a File”
Love to see pictures![/QUOTE]
Still having difficulty adding pics? Typically when you "click" on the little icon two positions right of the smiley face, it allows you to attach photos??? This site it does not.

Exactly! That's what I'm accustom to using however when I "click" on that it asks for an image "URL"???? I have all my Jeep photos saved on an SD card. Card reader attached to computer.

1966 8322 A 16447 Several repaints. Present color (brown) not to my liking. Strong Dauntless. Few modifications, except swing out tire rack, and fabricated bumpers.

Just joined the ECJ5 forum and wanted to introduce my 1963 Tuxedo Park. She is very original and will be undergoing a full restoration soon in hopes of participating in a 30 under 30 class in a reginal concours. The jeep is serial number 57548. It is now in NJ but spent most of its life in CO then WA. I have always had a dream of owning a 63 Tuxedo Park and after 10 years of searching finally found the perfect candidate for a restoration.

Unfortunately I cant seem to upland photos to the "Tuxedo Park Registry" as it dose not give me the option to unless I use the Beaming Pix add on. Other forums give me the "upload a file" button in the bottom right corner, strange.

Welcome aboard! Being you have a ‘63, I assume its Indian Ceramic (salmon)?

It is indeed Indian Ceramic. it has all the chrome original parts except for the license plate hanger and hub caps. This brings up a good question, did 61-63 tux have hubcaps or was that just a 64 on part?

I’ve seen the MK3 Tuxes with the earlier Cutlass full hubcaps (smooth style) with a “J” in the center. These, and the later turbine style were accessory items.

My wife's Tuxedo Park Mark IV has the following VIN8322A17330. It has a 225 CI V6 engine. It has a 1967 registration. Does this VIN number fit in your Tuxedo registry... and if it does what would be the manufacturing Date?.

Here is a picture of '65-'67.5 production dates that came from somewhere or other on this site. IIRC, the serial numbers listed in this are the numbers of the first Jeep produced that month.

It looks like your Jeep was produced very late in December of 1966.

To the more knowledgeable members, when was the last Tux Park produced? I have read that there were less than 90 Tuxes produced in 1967, but the S/N dates on the chart that I have access to (shown above) only goes until June of 1967, and does not indicate any stopping of production of Tuxes.

As far as the number of CJ5 Tuxes, it looks like 528 Tuxes were built in the 1967 model year, based on the production table above. The model year is shown by the dashed lines between June and July (the calendar year is shown by a dashed line between December and January). Notice the last 7 months of production was around only 20 units per month, and the last month (shown on the table) only produced 14 units, so this shows production was declining . Without the data for the 1968 model year-on (July ‘67), it cannot be determined if any Tuxes were built as ‘68 models, but most sources imply there were none produced beyond the ‘67 models year.

Can you tell from the VIN if a jeep is A Tux? I was looking for parts and came across a very complete tuxedo park cj5. All that seems missing are the doors. Can't imagine myself stripping parts off it when it could be worth more than mine. It's a bit rusty though.

Yes, for 1964 and up it'll start with 8322

I have a question....
Im looking at a tux. 1965. It's all there and complete. The body is solid but the frame is too far gone. The 134 has a knock.
The seller has a v6 frame and several v6 engines and parts.
My questions are:
Is there a difference between a 4 cylinder frame and a v6 frame?
Does the v6 engine add greater resale value?
Does a none original v6 engine add or detracted value?
I was just going to buy it for parts but now I'm thinking even in this condition it may be too valuable to part out.

My other jeep is a cj5 from December of 63. It is a low mileage jeep with only about 63k miles on it. It needs a radiator, shroud and the entire oil bath air cleaner assembly. The Tux jeep has all of that. But it's all very original and complete. I hate ruining the value of one vehicle just to polish a turd. Maybe I should just roll mine in glitter?

One last question.... all things being equal , how much value does the tux option add to a vehicle that is otherwise equal in all other respects?

Thanks and happy holidays
