Scott's '66 Continuous Modifications.

I’m getting tired of listening to my leaky headers. So I drug out a couple sets of manifolds I had in the attic. Passenger side is easy but I’m learning why we use fenderwell headers in the first place. Both of these interfere with the steering shaft. The one that interferes less dumps right into my clutch slave cylinder. I think I could slide the bottom of the column over 1/2” and make the skinny one work. I’d also have to space the clutch slave back 1/2”. The thicker one is ok on the clutch but would require a total rework of the steering shafts with an additional joint and apparatus to stabilize the extra shaft/joint.

My problem with the sniper initially was an excessively rich condition. . . . That's why I finally was tired of trying to do anything on the handheld and ended up buying the laptop connection. And after about 30 minutes I had everything running smooth and well within the set parameters.

Hope I am not hijacking this thread too much, but I wonder if anyone has a Sniper config file they could share (of a good running 2GC sniper on Dauntless engine). I have mine running decent from handheld, but am now trying to learn how to use laptop software to tweak it even better, especially at idle. It would be interesting to compare to a config that already has some bugs worked out.

Installing a Sniper would be much easier, if we had a good base config to start from. :-)

I never used anything but the setup wizard and the small screen. The self learning function seems to get it good enough for me. I would be interested in trying a custom tune when you get something worked out.

There are probably a dozen Holly snipers on this site. You should probably start a new topic and you will get more replies.

I actually was planning to start a new thread, but got side-tracked until today. I see that 1969jeepercj5 started one, so I will reply there. Hopefully we can all learn a little from each other. :- )

Had some Jeep problems on our yearly Colorado trip last month. Coming downhill or anytime coasting the rear end was making some very odd noises. Upon further investigation we found the pinion bearing was very sloppy. We ended up leaving my Jeep in the tiny mountain town of Pitkin CO. Loaded our camping gear into a couple other Jeeps and continued the trip. Cynthia rode with Micheal in an Air conditioned/heated JKU. (they used both the AC and heat over the next couple days). I Jumped in the CJ with Kenny. Another great night camping at 11K feet at Mirror Lake.

It was an adventure going back for the Jeep for sure. Had to tow the huge Toyhauler 60 miles each way, over Monarch Pass and 20 miles down a very narrow county road to get back to Pitkin. Loaded the CJ no problem and headed back to Denver and home to Florida.

The 60 year old pinion bearings were indeed toasted but everything else looked fine. A lot of cleaning and some fresh paint, she’s ready to go back under the Jeep.
