Never even broke a sweat!

I think there’s a very high percentage of us with those small black button horn switchesNo rain anywhere in sight. Grass is dying, azaleas are1 dying. Praying for rain.
Too hot for much shop time. Gave a few azaleas a little hand watering and worked in the shop until about 10:30.
53A1 horn failed and can't get the horn rod to go through the steering tube. Something broke off and plugged it when I took the old rod out.
Can't clean out the tube from the top or the bottom. Put a push button horn switch on the dash and ran the wires to the existing wires from the switch.
Got too hot and I quit. Will have to test it out next time. Then, later, when I feel like pulling the Ross steering box, I can fix it right.

Nice. Post up a pic after you install it!Also today, finally finished up this project. It's a mid level cargo rack for the back seat area of the Jeep. I built it out of some old retail store display grids, a chunk of angle iron from an old bedframe and a couple of 2" muffler clamps (to clamp on the rollbar). I made this last fall but just got around to adding sides today. It was fairly labor intensive cutting the grid, grinding and welding it together but total cost was dirt cheap.View attachment 107028

Looks nice, how much you charge to come paint mine! After years of watching the factory blister paint peel away from my RII hood, I decided it was time for a touch up.
I just about forgot the "before photo", but here it is sanded, masked and ready for rattle can finish.

Here's the final result. I need to wax the orange paint so the sheens will be closer.

Great job.I need to wax the orange paint so the sheens will be closer.
Thanks!Great job.
I was wondering why you decide to paint the blister with gloss black paint instead of flat black like RII's were originally?
Mike
Thanks!
Good Q :
I opted for a satin finish (~between flat & gloss) as it seemed closer to what the factory used on my CJ. I never thought my blister paint to be flat, especially compared to the RII stripes.
A flat finish is very unforgiving of surface defects. I did NOT sand down to bare metal. Even if I did, there would have been small defects in the bare metal. I wasn't about to fill anything with Bondo. This was a Saturday morning only project.
I used a flat primer, and it really looked rough on the existing metal. The satin paint filled in some of the imperfections to my liking.
I am NOT a pro-painter but understand some of the challenges within.
And, c'mon, with a rattle can, what can you expect?!![]()
