A bull dozer is a comparable ride
no matter if you rebuilt the motor, trans, transfer both axles there is STILL a puddle of oil on the shop floor!
You dance @ the room when the new jeep pars catalog shows up in the mail box
You can't remmebr your anniversary, kids birthdays, but you know your jeeps vin and motor # back and forth

hmmm, my fuel and temp gauge just stopped working, my puddle of oil is from the front seal, my gas leaks on fill ups due to the rubber hose to the tank is drying out and I just started having to hold the blinker on to make right turns since it won't stay into position. Still rolling though. :D

Wow, that was fantastic and true in just about every way. Only thing is my '72 dont leak anything....yet! Well, it seeps oil from transfer case since i filled it up with water from a pit and the rear pinion seal is starting to seep. Well dont though!

Thanks I hope it works out too lol.

Anyway when I was reading the first post I started laughing out loud becuase my jeep has a tiny mystery oil leak, fuel leaked from the filler hose when I filled it up, the fuel gadge didnt work and that whole thing was brand new, also the ride is comarable to that of a bulldozer or at least a tank. I know, I have driven a WW2 tank before lol.

Anyway dispite all that I loved the fact that she was not perfect and had little querks like that, it gave the jeep character. However I live with 4 other people that I go to college with and not a single one could understand why I wanted this vehicle and they all flipped out when they learned about all of its querks. Only one would ride in it becuse the others were terrified about safty in it, they complained it was too loud when it started up. they hated the slight fuel smell it had and lost thier minds when they saw it actually didnt come with reall doors and didnt like how high up it sat.

Now mind you they all drive Honda Civics, a Ford Taurus, a Subaru outback and a Saturn.....something not sure what it is. My previous vechicle was a 1994 sububan that Im now driving again and it has almost 400,000 miles on it and none would drive that becuase it was too big they said.

No one else I know can understand why I love this vehicle and Im so glad to be part of a group of people who understand and love it as much as I do.

Also I have two to add to the list.

1.) The windshield wipers wont turn on until you push the windshield assembly for a better seal, and then maybe they will turn on.

2.) One windshield latch latches tight and the other can flap around.

when you about to do the above, and instead of FREAKIN out and swerving, you yell, "go ahead A** hole, see if your Lexus can take a hit from my jeep, let's see who wins this battle!

You know you own a jeep when you start a simple drum brake conversion and you've spend over thousand dollars fixing other stuff not related to the brakes. And you still haven't started on the brake conversion.

Do you guys get all the little kids wanting to sit in your JEEP with big eyes and their hands already climbing and reaching for the O **** bar? They ask can I?, can I? They don't ask to sit in the F250 or the mini van just the JEEP. They have the same attitude I have when it comes to the JEEP. It simple fun to ride in the old machine. I think it's time to go to the back 40 and find some more blackberries.

Like puppies, EVERYONE loves a jeep!
You know you own a jeep....
When it starts to rain and the wipers work 3 swipes and quits, even though EVERYTHING was replaced, they worked PERFECT in the garage before you pulled out!
You look over at the passenger side of the windshield, and the water is POURING in like it's hooked up to a hose, you just shrug and say, "wellup, I guess I didn't seal the windshield up"! and then drive away.
You wipe the fog off the INSIDE of your windshield with the same RATTY rag that has been under the seat for ?????? long, yeah that one, the one that clean the dog Sh** off the floor mat, stem the flow of blood on that nasty cut you got trying to figure out why the gauges STILL doesn't work.
    Hey it stil works!R)

hey 74cj5guy- you go to school with a bunch of yuppies or something? i drove an m38 w/ a pinto engine w/ a corvair turbo on it in school along w/ a '57 chevy 210 two door. i got to school one day & it had rained a little but my plan was to go faster than the rain so it would flow over the windshield. but my foot was getting wet. no big deal, i have wet feet all the time. when i got to school i was late & ran to class. later in class someone asked, "hey andy, are you bleeding?" i looked at my wet foot they were pointing to & my sneaker was leaking oil. the oil line to the gauge had sprung a leak & filled my seaker up with oil- hence my wet foot. oh yeah. EVERYBODY KNOWS that the wipers work great in the shop, it's WATER that causes them to mess up. keep on jeepin!

    yes
    and i LET THEM.
the reason i bought the slug in the 1st place was i remembered how infatuated i was with them as a small boy.
now i got one for reals!
    P.S.
i like going out to the meadow and playing RAT PATROL!
    (dont tell anybody though...)

i use mine as a daily driver and get complements everywhere i go.
the guys with the new jeeps and the big tire crowd dont get that because they are so common.
in my town of 25,000 there are 2 other stock old jeeps that i know of.
but they dont get out much.
right now i am waiting for napa to open......

You pull onto your street after work to find parking spots ALL over, including in front of your house. Where do you park? At the end of the street sideways on this steep dirt bank.
People think your trying to be cool parking "off road" 'cause you own a "tough" jeep, but in reality your draining the water out of your tub!:D
