You know I have been smokin.. er thinking

I was thinking bout swing out fenders. I got thinking, instead of using a piano hinge for the hinge, why not set up the fender like a set of soft doors. Have a set of brackets with the open tubing and mount them to the body, and make a set of brackets for the fenders that will fit in the body brackets. Then make a way to bolt the front of the fender to the grill using wing nuts or some other quick release connectors. That way the fender can swing out to access the engine bay, or they can be removed really easily. Maybe I should put thecrack pipe away

 

Actually the inner fender would stay, i would put the hinges so they are on the outside. they shouldnt hang up on stuff

I've seen it done and thought it was a cool idea. The Jeep I saw had large pieces of rubber for inner fenders - that would flex enough to clearance the tire.
