It was posted that a 63A alternator for say a Chevy Nova would work for 134. The response was that: "and fit bracket." So my question is will the 63A fit the factory generator bracketry of the 6-volt generator on a 55 CJ-5?

"why no just go to auto parts store and get a delco 63A from say a 75 nova . it would be about the same cost . and fit bracket

You need to buy or fabricate a bracket that can attach to the original generator mount.
Should be able to find pictures here somewhere. Probably in the fab section more so
