    Hey, it's me dne'~ didn't think I was going to leave you guys did ya!?;) I'm buying this 68 CJ5 with the dauntless v-6, power steering, which runs, but is need of my attention! The seller is in New Mexico and will be delivering this jeep along his journey to Atlanta to visit his brother. Works out very well as he's delivering the jeep for 350. I've heard it run and have adequate pics to see it's a worthwhile project. Of course I'll take it down completely and make it nice!

    However, I am NOT going to finish it in a record time like I did my brothers '62 Willys.
    It won't be here until a couple weeks, but that will give me some time to wrap up things on my own project cars.
    I'm looking forward to a long fun project with you guys~ ;)
    dne'

    Nice. I guess that jug was the fuel source. I'm flowing. (I follow all the builds)

    Yes, the seller explained to me the original gas tank looked like it may have had "crap" in the tank, so he used the jug. I can respect that;) he says it has an auxillary tank, but I haven't asked how that works.

    Actually I kind of like the steps vs nerf bars. However, I'm not so sure about using the stock heater as it just takes up so much room in the engine compartment~ that is a long way off to even think about. I want to show off that engine compartment with the Dauntless;)

    I love it! Should be fairly rust free from NM. The power steering conversion is a big improvement over the stock steering.

    The steps are cool until your first time off-road. But they look to be pre-bent-back already anyway...;)

    OK, how a bout this~ notice there are no radiator support rods. I asked Curtis (seller) if he has any laying around, he says perhaps they're missing due to the Power steering pump being in the way? I found a set on ebay. I can't tell by the angle of the pic if this would be true. I have an idea for the p/s steering pump or alternate if it comes to this;

    [IMG]

    On my 67 mustang I installed a Flaming river rack n pinion and the actual p/s pump is a gm with a remote reservoir~ thought I may could source one of these to do away with the pump way out in left field. It's just a thought~ then incorporate an AC compressor in the midst;) hey, I might;)

    Support rods would be easy enough to bend/fab up to get around that pump.

    That pump looks like it is on a homemade bracket? The buick v6 uses the same power steering setup as the buick 350 V8. There is an excellent thread about P/S conversions that you might want to read if you haven't already.
