I need to connect the 4 wire wiper motor (Red, Blue, Green and Black)to the wiper control in the sterring colom. I have the colom wires ID'd

Pics always help - here is what I got - Id'd wires then actual wires

I know the Pink will go to the washer pump

    my other conections I suspect:
Wiper motor Red to harness Violet (high speed)
Wiper moter Blue to harness grey (low/park)
    Wiper motor Black to Ground

what do I do with the Wiper motor Green? - is it possible that it would be intermittent (would go to Dark Green) or, is it the OFF / Park (yellow) of the harness

Am a bit gun shy as I have tosed enough stuff at this point, I really don't want to smoke this

I thought I had posted this last night but must have not clicked submitt

I recall park having a seperate function. will take a little trial/error to find out which does what. to prevent the motor from releasing the smoke use a small fuse (like 10-15amp) on your jumper wire.

You need to tell us which wiper motor you have.

The 2-speed Jeep wiper motors have 4 connections - hot, ground, and two speeds. The fast speed is internally in parallel with the park switch, so the wipers will park at the bottom when you shut the switch off.

other than being able to tell you the wiper motor mounts to teh outside of hte windsheild and the above mentioned colors, I have no clue what motor it is. I could remove it - would require me cutting the fresh silicone sealant I just put across the top of the cover (it hits the windsheild rubber so I used black 50 yr silicone. just looking for on/ off/ high and low, but ofcourse I want it to be on the T/S wiper control on this colom - clear as mud haha

well trial and error have gotten me with wipers, high speed only, sort of.

using the ohm and volt meters, I have determined the following hookups between the 4 wire wiper motor and the wiper wire harness on this tilt colum from a 92 XJ (pics above)

Power comes to the colom harnes in through the white

the Pink wire is 12v activated with the switches washer function - ran to a washer fluid tank motor - works great.

the Violet from the colum hooked to the red of the wiper motor and the Green of the wiper motor hooked to ground, gives me High speed when the switch is turned to high speed.

when the switch is turned to low speed, I get 12v at the gray from the harness and 12v at the brown (for delay, but when I hook it to either to the Blue of the motor or the Black of the motor, I get no action.

Also, - I can get High speed, but it does not "Park" - return to home - it just stops wherever.

Soooo.... I am lost as to what to do with the Blue and Black from the wiper motor - or how to get the wipers to return to park position

    Anyone have a clue?

well, I have a few accidental discoveries. - everything seamed to work (high only) till after school. then, the motor turned really SLOW for no reason?

funny, after looking stuff over, the ground fell off and the High Speed came back - and I got low speed too!

found out also, by rolling the TS switch forward on the XJ colom, that I had intermittent (on while held)

still dosen't park thou - time to go check the link - first chance I had to post:rofl:

ok - after reviewing the Binky pages - the motor I have drives both wiper arms, I have replaced the windsheild and frame, it has the motor in front of the driver outside the vehical

I still have the other windsheild (it has 2 top of the frame mounted electric motors as does Blinky), I switched to this one since it came with the top I got and the price was right (FREE). Lost a bit of the historical look, but I still have the other windsheild and if I switch it back, it is just a trip to DMV for new stickers and another inspection (not in the plan) - but an option still the same.
