Dane Fraz, I appreciate your thoughts, yet have been living in the smogless portions of the state since prior to smog rules. We need only smog vehicles upon purchase and iirc 1975 and newer. repairs need only be done up to a certain dollar amount after a test failure.
I have a tremendous example of a showroom stock Renegade II pics in this thread click -> Renegade ll - March 1971 Reference Photos it is unrestored barn find.
There is the original decal on cowk and on the windshield now. The windshield decal is very fractured, but complete.
One sticker I'm missing came on the right hand valve cover. I have not yet determined what was there.

Missed your original thread - apologies. That's a nice find. I get it.

I've only seen 'repop' of the shroud sticker. I have two FSMs, let me see if there's anything in there.

I have never seen a smog sticker on a windshield. I will ask around here to some of the old jeep folk I have run into.

I felt honored that the original owner thought so much about our other "survivor" type vehicles he offered it to me.
I did some more research and found it was likely used only on California vehicles (other brands too) from Jan 1 to the end of manufacture of 71. After that most requirements coincided with the model year so the mid-year futz didn't occur. I seem recall it happening with shoulder belts (in Jan 68) and head restraints (in 69).
In the other thread I mentioned the jeep is registered as a car (not commercial plates, rather 3 numbers and 3 letters. Yet it lacks head restraints. I know there was some odd licensing stunts back in the day (in ca). i.e. a pickup or blazer type vehicle could be resistered a passenger car if it has a shell on all the time/and or had a rear seat.
One other thing about the decals, both are originals, and ar unique. THe windshield deals solely with tailpipe compliance and the cowl is tune up.
    Both cite California.
It must have been a real pain for manufacturers to keep up with the rules, and variables.

I found that a sticker was required on the window under section 29152, Party 1 Division 26 of California Health and Safety code which was to disclose to the public the highest emissions from the certification fleet of vehicles tested for the particular model Yr. I have not found when this was stopped. If anyone else has a picture of a emission decal of 70's jeep that would be appreciated as I would like to get mine replicated Thanks
