Seems centering wouldn't be a problem with the self centering lug nuts regardless of the smaller hub.

If you use self centering lug nuts on the trailer in the event you use the spare that's probably not an issue. But using the trailer lug nuts could be an issue.

I have gone through this issue with my 67 CJ, WWII Willys trailer, and 60's era M416.

Of course the Willys trailer and CJ completely interchange.

Everyone has mentioned the smaller hub and lug/washer combo on the M416.

ALSO!!! the M416 uses a smaller lug nut stud. I put 16" steel Willys/bantam trailer wheels in my M416 using new angle seat lugs nuts--THEY ARE NOT THE SAME (1/2") AS CJs, they are one size smaller (7/16 I believe). The new lug nuts seated very deep in the old steel wheels, and I consider the setup borderline deathwish to take on the paved road right now. The trick would be to machine the hubs to accept the larger CJ studs, or replace the hub altogether with a CJ hub, which I intend to try AFTER I buy a house, receive my household goods shipment, get moved in, and build a garage. I am still at the househunting stage so don't hold yer breath. Better yet, someone else try it and tell me if it works!
