Really nice looking Jeep Lee! I'd do the black windshield frame as well.

I went to the local junkyard/Disneyland (my kids think the junkyard is Disneyland...shhhhh, don't tell them!) And sourced a power steering pump, pulleys and brackets from a Skylark with power steering. I have a power Saginaw box from a Jeep, so it appears Farm Jeep Willy will have some nice floaty steering soon. I also scored a spare driver side rear dump manifold for the Dauntless.

Oh, and the kids and I also installed a 1970s era style antenna and a self contained radio, with speakers and all. Saw it on this site first!

I got the rest of the wiring harness ran and added some turn signals. Actually they are back up lights from Local parts store and swapped clear bulbs for amber.

Th n I took it for my first legal drive. Drove over o neighbors that lent me the double axle trailer to bring it home in August. Then drove to the gas station and back home. All in all a successful voyage. But I noticed there is an annoying noise coming from the transmission, I think. It happens at higher RPM, I let off the gas it goes away. Not sure if it is the clutch bearing or something else.

How was the wiring harness to install? If you could do it over again would you buy the same one again or would you spend extra on an actual Painless or Walcks harness? You can’t beat the price of your harness...

The harness was easy peasy. I would definitely buy again. I even upgraded the headlight circuit to include two relays. Focker has a great thread for this upgrade. Thanks Brad for the awesome tutorial on the relays.

Only thing I wish was different was the headlight switch. The parking lamps are only on in the first position, so when the headlights come on in the second position the parking lights shut off.

Power your parking lights off of the tail light terminal of the switch. That way, the parking lights will be powered in either switch position.

The parking lights from the factory went off when the switch was pulled out to turn on the head lights.

Stripped the tub of the dash, pedal assys (gas, brake/clutch), steering column, master cylinder, windshield hinges, E brake assy. Now it all has to be cleaned up for powder coating :-( About 1/2 the hinge bolts snapped but McMaster Carr has some nice stainless steel ones. Have a new tub coming from C&C Equipment next week :) , even with the stories out there, new sheet metal is a plus. My jeep didn't come with fenders so I also have two new Crown fenders for it (they don't look bad, have to see how fit goes). Hood, Windshield frame, and Grill are surprisingly good

I found the unobtainium headlight adjuster nuts at the picnic today. Installed all that junk.

The speedo in the 73 took a crap on me recently on my way to work, so when I got home I just unhooked it. I hate working under a jeep dash. Out with the old.

And in with the new. Had several parts, so I repaired this one. The needle shaft broke actually

Picked up the new tub...was surprised that it had lower windshield mounts, JEEP stamped in the sides, and the dash holes punched out. It will be a while before I get to it for fit/finish, have to tackle the frame first :-/

I ordered this steering column today for my 74 , Nostalgia Steel Steering Column . I wanted to stay close to original looking in the interior and this has bearings on each end not plastic bushings. I will cut the dash mount off the old rusty column and enlarge the hole to 1 3/4" and weld it on the new one, and also weld up the quick disconnect (not legal here). Add DD to spline adapter and done. (or change shaft to DD also) I'll put a horn button in the dash. This is the turn signal I plan on using Big Rig Chrome Shop - Semi Truck Chrome Shop, Truck Lighting and Chrome Accessories
