Do you have a roll cage up by the dash?

No my "build" isn't to much. Just adding things to my jeep I would have ordered.

Hopefully this is the last time I have to look at it this way. Stripped down for final welding then out for paint. Permanent reassembly!

Always questioned the back lights. I often envision a "finished prototype" YJ getting it's first look by the group who was working on it. After a few minutes of examining and admiring their design and production, one of the crew speaks up and asks innocently:
    "Where are the taillights?"
Hence the reason for the lights which look like any flatbed truck of the 70's as well as an afterthought that snap off at any chance they get.
    Re-engineered. I like it!:coffee:

Installed a 'tool box' in the back of my jeep. Its not the most sturdy, and anyone with any intent to break into it with a crowbar could easily do so, but it will at least keep some stuff out of sight and keep the honest people honest when just walking by. Up till now, my tool kit, recovery gear and air pump all just sat loose in the back anyway - so this will help deter some theft as well as keep some stuff from sliding/bouncing around and keep it a bit neater, drier and more organized. Actually, I think it will be nice to keep a few things dry and the animals out - like my pack with food and clothes.

I would have liked it a bit more sturdy - but it would have been heavier as well as I was very limited to a specific size that would fit. It does have a slightly better latch and lock than the cheapest ones, as well as a full length hinge on the back of the lid. This box is marketed as an ATV box or as a trailer/hitch box. I had one in my cj7 years ago that mounted behind the back seat, but it was hard to get stuff into the cargo area when the seat was out. I never run a back seat in this jeep (do have some later model one if someone wants one), and want to be able to slide a Tupperware box of camp gear in the rear next to the box, so mounting it sideways seemed like a great idea (thanks to my wife but also meant I had to start over with more searching for different dimensions). I can also access the paddle handle and the box from the driver seat if needed. Its only 12 inches deep, so I had to raise it up 1.5 inches so I could open the lid over top of the side wheel well - had to make some little riser 'feet' for it from some old bed frame that mount to the floor (love drilling holes in my old jeep body) and the box mounts to those. This way, I can easily remove the box if needed for some reason (removing the feet is a bit trickier in terms of needing some really long arms or two people).

Brought my CJ3A back to California from Parachute Colorado. Son was moving to Steambaot Springs with nowhere to store. Pic is near Austin Summit above Austin Nevada on Hwy 50 on the way home. 36 degrees and snowing.

IMG_20170617_180513_995-1.jpg Welding is best done outside in full sun. On an asphalt driveway, at 90deg. and 100% humidity. About 50% done.
