Dunno, maybe 2 years old. They probably came from Rock Auto, a lot of stuff I get from them has " dated" packaging.

Some times you can break a plug putting them in and not notice it. Especially if the music is cranked up and you're def in one ear and can't hear out of the other.

In preparation for next week's trip, I wanted to look everything back over more closely. The transmission mount bushings are shot. That's what I get for using old junk I found but I have new bushings sitting in a box that fit the bill. I need to revise the transfer case bushing. It works but could be much better. I'm going to see if there's room for an L/F 134 engine mount and make a bracket to fit there. If not it'll get a removable sleeve/bushing for easier replacement. Changing out the 30wt for 50wt. Hopefully, that will keep the smoke down. Still, drank 6 quarts of 40wt in a couple hundred miles. There's some life left in 'er. (y)

I can get 5 quarts of oil for $18. Sometimes it's cheaper. Really it depends on brand but I'm just gonna start pouring in the cheapest stuff I find. Even with the oil consumption and blow by, it's loyal like an old dog. Always starts without having to use the enrichment on the carb and hasn't left me walking yet. Could I ask for more? Not really.

I *think* it's wired right. I'll pick up some switches tomorrow to wire the controls. I should get a disconnect for the winch too.

My local hardware store didn't have the right bolts in stock so I had to reinstall the plow bracket.
I dunno... It doesn't look quite right to me. May take some time getting used to I guess.

I like those u-bolt plates. Did you buy them somewhere, or are they homemade? Mine are pretty crusty, and of course leave everything exposed.

I think I paid extra with my Rocky Road Outfitters YJ spring conversion. They really are nice. after torqueing the U-bolts I cut off the 1" + that hangs below.

Finished for now. The parts store didn't have the switch I wanted so I picked up a knife switch for now. I sprayed all the connections with CRC terminal protectant hoping to keep corrosion down and liquid tape to seal off the crimps. I need to order a set of boots to cover the wire lugs and it will be done after that.

A 3 wire extension cord was perfect for wiring the controls. It had already been cut in the past so no loss there. The main power wire is fused and it goes to this kill switch so the buttons are only energized when it's flipped up. The led light lets me know it's hot. The only momentary switches at the part store were these chintzy buttons. They'll make do for now.

I wanted a pto winch but this will have to suffice. It's fairly fast with no weight. In the future, I'd like to pick up synthetic rope to replace this rusty old cable.
Never planned to add a winch so soon but apparently, I can't drive and need one. :(

I did some maintenance before I started on my nice evening trip to the reservoir to sit in the shade and listen to some good tunes....

Did the monthly oil change. Hmmm. That don't look so good. In went the 20w50...

    All better.

I broke a ubolt and welded it back together. It held up just fine but I went ahead and replaced it.

Off I went on my merry way after all that and a few miles down the road it started to lose power and sputter. I pull over remove #4 plug and throw in another, the air horn blew off so I installed it, on my way I went a few more miles...started to sputter and blew the air horn off again, so I pulled over removed the air horn completely and turned around heading home. It finally lost all power and I coasted under a tree in the ghetto part of the Natchez Trace. Just great... I pop the hood, look around, and after some internal disputes I decided to turn the enrichment lever back on the carb and it started to run somewhat better and I high tailed it back home at a whopping 30 mph and I knew it wouldn't get me through town or the interstate so I took a short cut. At about 2 o'clock in the picture, there is a small pass with 4 steel poles stuck in the ground to keep trucks from going down there but the 3b can fit between them. Luckily highway patrol passed by right before I started down the hill. :ninja: Anyhow the carburetor must've gotten some trash in it? It's running better now after spraying it out and the smoke is down with the 50wt. Every single time I try to go to the reservoir it does this to me. I don't know why but it does. Cantankerous old junk heap.

    Hello, walls...

I stripped two bolt holes on my 12ga mild steel DIY fuel tank access backerplate. The tank leaks out the filler on right hand turns and out the bolt holes on left hand turns (or the standard off kilter trail situations)
So 3/16 aka 7ga aka .188" 304 stainless was cut by a local laser. I just had to tap the 12 holes to 1/4-28.
    Easy right...

    You would think but... no
This stuff is hard. Two taps got almost 8 holes.

Spent a few hours roughing out and tacking up the swing out. Need to pull a tire and measure the distance to the rim. After that I'll haul it to my friends fab shop and let him Tig it all up.
One thing for sure, tooled around 2 hrs yesterday and these Corbeau Moabs are killing me. They are way too narrow in the back. I'm looking at some Baja JP's, anyone have them?
