Funny that most dogs like to ride so much. My little dog will sit up in the front passenger seat looking straight ahead for hours at a time. She will even lean to the inside when going around steep corves. She will see the curve coming up and start to lean too soon sometimes and loose her balance!
There is an area we frequently pass thru where we often see deer, turkeys, and black bears along the road. She recognizes that we are nearing the area and will paw at me to open her window so she can get a better look and bark at them.

 

Yesterday on the interstate, I passed one of those giant class A motor homes with the 5’ tall flat windshields, and there was a full-grown Dalmatian standing on the dash. I had to do a double take.

I wrapped the down pipes to the mufflers with this lava rock insulating wrap. Works really good you can actually hold your hand on it for a moment. We'll see how it holds up.
Kinda stumped on finding much to do now. Appointment for tags this week.

 

The idea of a home invasion is strange for me... Even if I have some hunting "tools", I don't see how it happens, except in war places.

What I don't see in your protection tools is a knife.
I have some good diving knives, it makes silent work and yes, you must know how to use it, but it presents many advantages.

Bolted on a stabilizer. More for some resistance with my fast ratio steering box. Dropped the tire psi to 28, probably going to drop a few more yet. Needs a proper alignment but it's going down the road a lot better now. I can say there's a fair amount of torque steer with the rear Lockright, when you get on it The brakes lock up nicely too ( eh Geoffrey ?)

Oh yeah, got a little squirrelly and left some rubber out front when you stomped on them.

 

Finally got the rear axle yoke off. Had to cut two notches into it with a cut off wheel then drive a cold chisel into it until it split. I damaged the pinion in the process though so am currently hunting some new gears and a rebuild kit.

I got most of the patches welded in to the body. Still have to cut out and weld in the driver's side floor but that should be the last of it before sealer, coating the under body, and body filler for the external spots i had to cut out before finial paint.

 

I've got a couple of yokes' , if you need 'em. What's the spline count ?

As I gazed over.......I notice the engine under wraps. That wouldn't be the 327 that we once spoke about , would it ? ( )

The two oldest boys have some WWII era bayonets and I have my Dads trench knife from WWII by the bed, but no formal training. I may have to look into that!

Did a bit of de-bondo'ing to get to the worst of the rust on the metal that'll sit under my rock-sliders. I hate tack-welding sheetmetal (I just plain suck at it, usually) but it went ok, and I put two rosette welds to tie the whole panel back into the reinforcing panel that lives behind the body sheetmetal (black surface)

 

In my experience (15 years in law enforcement) knives are more of a last resort item than as a primary home defense tool. First of all, you have to be CLOSE to use one. It's pretty much a guarantee that the bad guy will fight back, meaning you're going to get cut too, most likely arms/legs/etc, and it's bad news if you're the weaker one in that fight.

The best weapon for home defense IMO is a pump action shotgun. You have to be a hard m-fer to not run away when you hear the "ch-chik" sound of a pump shotgun being loaded!

In addition, you can load a variety of ammunition. You can more easily get ammo that won't hit your kids sleeping in the next room. And the spread is the size of a pumpkin vs. that of a pea. Definitely a benefit at 2am in the dark.
