I just picked up a 69 cj5 with a v6 225 engine. I’m working on the wiring and trying to figure out the original position of the voltage regulator. Any suggestions?

the advantage to a one wire GM style alternator is that it produces more amps than the original, but other than that the external regulator is not a problem. The wiring is pretty straight forward with lots of online diagrams. The new external regulators are solid state and require no maintenance. I replaced an externally regulated alternator because I needed more juice to power an electric fan. The externally regulated one was just fine otherwise.
