    Hey All -

I'm (casually) looking for a mid-late 70's era Kenwood home stereo system. Ideally separate amp/tuner, EQ, turntable.

70's era = silver faces, real knobs & buttons, no remotes, etc.

I can find all of it on Ebay, etc but thought I'd look here first and see if anyone had a system they want a good home for.

My Kenwood components are 90's "vintage". I bought it in the early 90's and then years later discovered it was Dolby Prologic. I didn't even know what that was when I bought it. In fact I never even noticed it printed on the face of the receiver. It's still runs 100% to this day.

I don't use it much, but it's still in the wall cutout supporting the Night Hawk internet router. :)

    G'Mornin' Ya'all,
Those are 80's , Integrated systems. Mike is look'n to locate the separate amp, turntable , tuner, & equalizer. That's how we did it , back in the 70's.
It was very Cool, Cherry, Mint , Far- out , & Right on to have a system like such. Typically paired with 4 to 6 foot tall Advent Speaker's , in a wood cabinet.
A lot of our brother's , comi'n home from ' NAM, brought back AKAI reel to reel machines. IT was Rock at it's all time best !

When I was a kid in the 70s I built my stereo system from kits from Heathkit out of Benton Harbor MI. It was great fun and they were quality pieces, even had an 8-track.

No, these are separate pieces from the 90's.

Receiver/Tuner - This is the only piece I kept.
    CD player (I had a 5 disc)
    Cassette (mine was dual)
    Equalizer

I had 4 Yamaha speakers that I opened up and wired in crossovers from RadioShack in order to separate the bass, mid and tweeters better.

This brings back memories since I graduated from HS in '76. Moving into college dorms the first thing unpacked was the stereo. End of the year. it was the last thing packed.

Backstory - I grew up in a techhie house. Stereo systems were my "baseball". Used to ride my bike downtown to the stereo shop that mostly sold Kenwood, drool over the equipment, take the brochures, learn all the specs, etc. Later I worked there, and slowly pieced together a nice 80's system - along with Kenwood coats, pants, hats, etc. Got rid of it all when we started traveling.

New house is a blank slate, and I want to put in one of the systems that I drooled over as a kid. I'm also wanting to get into vinyl a bit - just finding records at antique shops etc.

Yea, looking there too. ;) And Craigslist.

Found a nice '77 Kenwood receiver not too far away. It's not the amp/tuner I wanted, but price is reasonable and looks in great shape.

Made the deal on Facebook for this. Haven't bought something there & had it shipped yet - hoping I'm not just throwing $ away!
