Here’s how I get the cage out.

All of the welding was finished up Saturday morning, and I sanded and re-primed everything that needed it.

Sunday was paint day. I painted the underside of everything in the morning, then came back and dodged rain showers in the evening to paint the rest.

We'll see how it holds up, but so far, I’ve been more impressed with this Rustoleum Professional paint than their implement paint that I used on the frame and axles. It lays down smoother and dries much quicker.

I'm glad to hear that the rustoleum professional had good results, I'm thinking about using their semi-gloss black on my frame.

My cage was painted 5? Years ago with rustoleum professional from Home Depot. Still shiny and looks great.

Tub is off. Ready for a month or more of body work, and a whole bunch of “finish what you started” loose ends.

I needed a place to put the cage, so I threw it back up on the frame. Still sorta looks like a Jeep!

It's almost cooler without the body.

I wish I could drive it like this. I built my 3b to be completely functional without the body in case it self-destructed in a race. This one, I could sit, steer and have an e-brake, but the main brakes, clutch and gas pedal are hooked to the body. Probably for the best to keep me out of trouble. :sneak:

I remember when my Dad had the tub off the MB when I was a kid. Mom got a car stuck in the snow/mud (? I don't remember). Dad propped up the radiator on the jeep frame, strapped on a fuel jug, a crate to sit on, and drove the Jeep chassis out to save the car. It was pretty cool to 4 year old me. Not sure how he ran the throttle. Probably with a piece of string.

It bugs the engineer in me that your lower radiator support is cantilevered off one side of the frame. Almost worth adding a bolt-in hanger to support the far end from the upper cross-bar since the steering box is in the way for anything down low.
