    Yup, the 85/86 302 Equipped F-Series and Broncos, and all the 87-91 Fuel Injected Fords use this setup, low pressure pumps in the tanks, feeding the High Pressure pump on the frame rail. They'll run without the in-tank pumps, for a minute.....

    I have a trailer connector mid ship. Unplug the tail lights from the harness to the dash, plug er into the tow vehicle with about 10' of extension.

    Works great until you bust a tail light on the trail.

    I did a dry run of disconnecting the driveshaft and holding it up with a shortened ratchet strap. I drilled holes into the frame boxing to hook to.

    The nice thing about the twin-stick’d Dana 300, if I need to unhook and move the jeep in a hurry, I can lock in the hubs, switch the rear into neutral and the front in gear for front wheel drive without the rear driveshaft spinning.

    All you need is a driveshaft loop so you don't have to fool with a ratchet strap. :)

    Dana 20s with the pill removed, and Dana 300s when converted to twin stick: the left shifter controls the rear drive, and the right shifter controls the front. If both shifters are rearward, that’s high range, 4wd. Both shifters forward, that low range 4wd. Normal street driving is left shifter rearward, right shifter centered (neutral). Front wheel drive is by shifting the rear into neutral and the right shifter in low or high. So you can put the 300 in any combination of H/L/N, but it does prevent you from putting the the axles in opposing ranges and self destructing. The D20 in my 3b (with the pill removed) doesn’t, and it’ll run different ranges front/rear.

    I always wondered about the 300 shift pattern . front wheel or rear
    come to think about it , didn't someone post a unimog transmission

    A word on mileage...

    I’ve been clocking the mileage on this thing since I started driving it. I’d gotten a low of 16 and a high of 19mpg, with interstate driving sucking the most fuel.

    That is, until the other day when I had the key on non-stop through an entire tank of fuel for the first time, that even included 40 miles of interstate travel (including two mountain passes, one on and one off the freeway), and it got 23mpg between fill ups. This seems to have confirmed my suspicions....

    My GPS speedometer has an odometer that tracks mileage to whole miles. The trip meter tracks to 1/10th of a mile, but it resets every time the key is turned off, and the odometer follows the trip meter. For example, if I start the jeep and run to the end of our dirt road and shut the engine off, the trip meter reads .9 miles. Come back home, and it’s another .9 miles. That 1.8 miles never triggered at all on the odometer. So basically, every puddle jump I use it to run to town (which I do a lot), it’s not clocking .5 miles on average of miles, causing my mpg calculations to be quite skewed towards the rich side.

    I’m sure I’m not getting 23mpg through every tank, but I’ll bet that’s closer to he truth than 16-19.

    I don’t think I ever showed the contents of my rear drawer. Everything is stored in old pant legs. I cut them off above the knee and sew the cut area together. They make killer tool bags.

    1. A rag. Something I desperately wished I had onboard in Moab.
    2. A big tow strap. This also stores my hatchet/hammer.
    3. Standard/metric tool kit.
    4. Long zip ties... and I can’t remember what else. Small odds and ends.
    5. An automotive jack. I chose not to carry a hi-lift to save weight and space. I figure where I go, there are enough trees to get creative with the cage and the winch if I need to lift a side.
    6. An assortment of ratchet straps.
    7. Tools. Multimeter, wrenches, pliers, tape, tire plugs and patches... everything that’s not included in the main tool case.
    8. Distilled water. Radiator and battery safe, and potable in a pinch.
    9. Spare coil. I still need to grab a spare ignition module and fuel pump to feel safe.
    10. Winch wire. The remote is wireless and stays in my console, but the wire comes along. Because life.
    11. Oil.
    12. Inside this towel (that I was VERY happy to lay on in the sands of Moab) is a cross-bar for tire removal.

    Everything is isolated to keep rattles to a minimum. The only time I hear anything is when I launch it and stuff smacks the top of the cabinet.

    My center console stores everything else. I have a small bag that holds all the tire stuff... deflators, air chuck, nozzle, valve stems, etc... I also carry my SPOT, a battery pack for charging/flashlight, gloves, hat, lighter, and anything else I could think of.
