I have a Sparton 3r6 in pretty good shape and I also have a signal stat 900 and I cant get either one to wire up properly to a brand new ez wire harness. The closest I'm getting is the signal stat to work is all of the lights flashing when I use the switch either left or right or when I press the brakes all of the lights wired to the switch light up, not just the brake lights.

I cant find a wiring diagram for either one that matches the ez wire harness. There are a few old posts discussing the wiring diagrams of the sparton but the links are all outdated and don't work. Any help would be appreciated from those of you who have used either switch with the ez wiring harness

yeah i've seen all those, but nothing that shows a direct hookup to the ez wiring harness

    thanks for the help though!

Wait - what do you expect? Connect-the-dots instructions?

You should be able to figure it out from the diagrams. You're taking quite a big chance that someone out there has assembled your group of components before, and is willing to lead you through the process.

I would figure out what each wire to the turn signal switch does, refer to the diagram that EZ Wire gave you, and draw it out with colored pencils. I don't think you are going to avoid having to do a little thinking.

Not trying to be negative - instead trying to give you the picture of what's what here.

Pretty sure the "Chart 3" is right for your SS 900, and probably the same for the Sparton.

This is a 2-filament stop and turn indicator - the bright filament is used for both stop and turn. The dim filament is for running lights. If you want to use a 3-filament light with separate run, turn and brake filaments, you'll have to leave the blk/tr wire disconnected.

Should be clear from the diagrams.

What year and model is the Jeep?

Another way to approach this - let's assume this is an intermediate, since it's in the intermediate forum, and assume that your Sparton is original to the Jeep. Then look at the diagram here - http://oljeep.com/gw/74_tsm/22-7-CJWiringDiagram.pdf

This shows the plug for the original Sparton turn signal switch very clearly. Looking at this, terminal 3 connect to wire A-65, which goes to the stop light switch. You can figure ot the other connections similarly. Colors are shown on the last page here http://oljeep.com/gw/74_tsm/22-WiringDiagrams.pdf

Actually, yes I did. There are a lot of people on here that have used the ez harness and either the stock sparton or a signal stat or similar signal. That's kind of the point of these forums. Informational sharing. I wasn't hoping for step by step but I'm sure someone has done something close or very similar to mine

I actually found an old thread of someone who used the ez harness and the signal stat. I wired mine to match and it's not working like it should.

I've wired it based on every diagram I could find and the same thing is happening every time. The brakes make all of the turn signal lights light up and either direction on the switch makes all of the lights flash like the hazards are on. I think I might have wired something wrong somewhere else.

The first diagram is much closer to what I need. The 73 wiring diagram in my Haynes manual shows the switch wired up much differently. Thank you

Your getting back feed thru the system. Insert some diodes into your brake light wiring.

That only adds more problems to a system that is not designed for them. You may need diodes if you are using LED's or your trying to use the wrong lights etc.

Sparton 3R color code. Orange = RR Turn Blue = LR Turn Black = RF Turn Yellow = LF Turn Brown = Brake lights

The Brown will connect to the stop light switch terminal. The other terminal will be hot all the time.

It cured my issue, but then again, I switched over to LEDs which echoes what you said Walt.
