Doesn't even have the correct engine.
They opted to put in the "Go Slower" engine!
That is the one that I was supposed to buy a few weeks ago. We worked out a deal for 800 plus a trade for an old Polaris 4 wheeler on my end and a military generator on his end. We couldn't move the m38a1 at the time because it was at the bottom of a very wet, slippery hill. I educated him a bit about the importance of finding the data plates and the missing parts. He found them and did some googling or CL searches and clearly felt that the number we agreed on was low. He is a decent guy and said that he would stick to our agreement, but I got the impression that he thought I was hosing him on the deal. Then a friend found me a "barn find" cj2a with rear pto so I politely (meaning he got to keep my deposit) backed out of the m38A1 deal. It actually is not as bad as it looks in the pictures, and DonX has that F head for sale...
I think 800 in cash would have been an excellent deal, FOR HIM. No title, wrong engine, missing parts.. come on! Its a junk pile right now.
Your probably right. The title was just lost but that could be fixed. The missing parts were all found in a shed on the property, but that's when the seller started hinting that it was worth way more than what we agreed to. Really didn't sit well with me.
It seems the A1s have been abandoned for the most part by the military guys now. They all seem to want a MB/GPW. Unless they are complete and 24 volt stuff is all there, it is pretty much just another CJ5 that needs almost everything.
She followed me home today. Bought it for the early GPW engine in her. Anyone need M38A1 parts??

I pulled the GPW engine and sold it complete.
