I avoid chinese manufacture where I can. On tires I'm finding it more and more difficult to find anything made here. Trailer tires are especially problematic.
I see the STA are made in USA as are some, but not all interco (super swampers).
The wheels as near as I can tell without dismounting are 7" wide (inside to inside rim) and about 1" positive offset (drum mating surface to inside 4", and outside 3" ).

I have had great luck over the years with skinny Swampers (Interco). The only reason I don't have them on my CJ-6 is the on road use and ride of a radial is so much better, and no flat spotting. If I was using them around town only, not a ton of miles every year and not so much on road towing a camper, I'd have some skinny Super Swampers on it. The steering with bias tires and no power steering is nicer than a radial as well. Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

Tire Mart a wholesale specialty tire dealer in St Louis tells me that STA and Interco are actually the same mfgr.
I think they also make the PIT BULL tires.
If I recall I think he said they are made in Pennsylvania .

Went to a big town nearby tire shop was pushing toyo open country mt 235 75r15 (LT) @ 200 per with mount and balance and tax.
I've never been a fan of this brand seems like they are an option.
Funny thing is the dealer was saying that tire cases are made by only so many companies and then cast with the tread and sidewall choice and branded at that point.
I asked him where the cases were made and he couldn't say. His point being that just because a tire is cast with made in usa does not mean it is entirely so.
Anyone care to comment on toyos? they do have a nice thick sidewall.

After reading many many reviews, I went with the Toyo M-55 snow tire (LT235 75R15)
Every review was a 5-star rating. Used on a lot of full size heavyduty trucks. Has a great tread pattern, not noisy on the road, great heavy construction. I love this tire!

    Factory steel rim, 15x5.5"
Not as tall as the L-78 snow tires I had but this metric size is the closes to it.

I've been shopping around to see what's available locally and ends up a local shop can get (will have to see if they materialize) bfg ta KM2's in 234 45r15. (235 75r15) I'll likely go that route as I'm familiar with the tire and have had good experience with then, provided they are mounted black out. They are also designed for 6 to 7" wide rims so there will be no balloon or pucker factor going on.

Gotta be 235/75R15. A 45 profile tire is very squat, 4" tall and 9.25" wide. There's also a 215/75R15 KM2 which is a little shorter and narrower than the 235.

    yes 235 75r15
i get in a rush and have bad hands.
I'm leaning to the 235 to keep ground clearance similar to the h78 15 originals and what I have on there now.
The 235's are a little taller and wider (more like a L78 15) yet the 215 is smaller and narrower than the h78 by about an inch and more like a g78 15.

Update going to look at the bf goodrich km2's at the local dealer. I'm kind of throwing up my hands. Checked walmart, they can get any tire on their website, I have to order and ship to store and they will install. It's hard to believe that to get a decent selection I need to drive 2 hrs, one way to find a shop that stocks any mt's. At least the local shop said if you don't want them we have no problem selling them.

I don't want to stir it any more, but white letters look like a carnival wagon to me, if you don't stir it, it don't stink. It's your Jeep do what ever look you want for it, and as always Good Luck
