I spoke this evening with the guy that originally had my 74 CJ6 after govt service. :)

His grandfather bought the 6 from the US Forest Service in KY at a govt auction in 1981 or 1982 and used it for around the farm and hunting. Gramps did not care for the green and had some gray paint so that is how the color got changed. In 1985 his grandfather parked it in the barn and did not use it again.

Grandson went and got it two years ago because someone stole the wheels, air cleaner, carb, and some small stuff off it. He bought a new carb and put the Ford wheels on it but did not pursue it. Another year or so sitting in his shop. He did not want a big project so decided to sell it and I purchased from the guy he sold it to.

He said the hard top is at his grandfather's old house and if I want it I could have it, but it has been sitting on the ground since 1981 or so. I may go get it for kicks and see what it looks like.

Thought it was neat story! :)

    It is a neat story.

Do you want the top? If it were nearby and I had the room, I'd go get it. Even if it's beyond saving, every few months somebody is looking for some part to a Meyer steel cab. Plus the (full?) CJ-6 cab is pretty scarce these days - though the demand is minimal too. If you decided to sell it, it might take a long time to find someone in your area that wants it.

All the more reason to save it, IMO.

We are going to get together in a couple of weeks and go out there to take a look at it and I will get what is left and post some pics and you guys can help me part it out or save it.
