Hi guy’s....beend having a big question about back up switch for t18.

I swap out my worn out t18 that has the switch getting on side of the sliding gear rod.

Now the t18-1b has the switch at the end of the sliding gear rod.

There something missing using the back up switch from my worn out t18 in the swapped transmission. I need sone kind of spacer to make contact to the switch ball.

Or im not having the right switch....

Please note that my worn out t18 has the reverse gear on right down and the swapped t18-1b has the reserve roght and up.

As far as I know the Reverse switch is not in the blue circle area. It is the switch just above the red T-case

Sounds like a little metal pill in between the switch and rail may work as long as the rail keeps the pill in the tower. If the rail goes too far the pill could fall out.

The threaded ends of the backup switches of the style you need have different lengths. If you know the make and model of the vehicle that the transmission came from, why not look up the backup light switch in the Standard Motor Parts ecatalog. Should find the correct part you need. You could also look on ebay for a switch.

That is a great web-site, i just saved it in my favorite.

As for the swith i didn't find the one that look mto be the oem one.

I will try again to do a custom rod to make contact, hopefuly i will be able to get the correct lenght of rod so i will make the back light work correclty....

The backlights worked as far as I can tell. It has been a couple of years since I last ran the jeep. Currently, I’m working on it doing a frame off rebuild. When I was disconnecting the wiring, I have noticed there were no wires connected to the switch.
