T15 to Dana 18

    I have a buddy with a scout and he just got a 360 Jeep motor, the scout is a early one with the t90 and dana 18. I know the dana 20 botled to the T15, so i am to believe the Dana 18 will bolt onto it also. But will only a large hole and 1 1/4 inter. shaft dana 18, or can any Dana 18 bolt on?? And i never really noticed but how do you tell if the dana 18 is a big hole?? Is only Big hole dana 18 have 1 1/4 intr. shaft?? just trying to help him out, he wants to make the scout into a monster, so i will see if i can help, and sell a tranny at the same time :)

    Small hole makes a clunk noise when you separate the Trans and pull the T-case reward an inch (gear don't pass through) R)

    Seriously --I'm just learning this right now and the way I understand it, It's all about the bull gear in the T-case that varies. It can be swapped without <too much> hassle.

    Someone correct me :rofl:

    He will probably have to use the Dana 18 bull gear. i understand now ;) bout the clunk noise :) The output of the 15 i think is the same as the T90 6 or 10 spline. i have to recheck it

    You can use the 18 but must be converted (if not already) to a large hole case. The T-15 is a 6 spline output so unless the 18 came off of a T-14 the bull gear will work. If the transfer case will come off without removing the bull gear the case is a large hole. If not then a small hole. All large hole cases were 1 1/4" intermediate, but not all small hole cases were. There were some 1 1/4" intermediate small hole cases though. The case bolt up pattern is the same between the 18 and 20. Nickmil.
