Curious, what is the successor to the M416? Or does the US military even have a 1/4 ton trailer now?

There really wasn't a replacement since they phased out the M-151 Mutts and went to the CUCV Chevrolet Pickup/Blazer Variants and then the Hummer. When I got in my Unit in 1980 we had about 60 M-151s and M-416s.

There is a 3/4 ton M-101 that is still pretty common today. We have at least 6 at work if not more. Did a quick search and found this site to show one behimd an M-37. http://www.garbee.net/~cabell/photos9.htm But it is being phased out for us will the M-11XX series that uses Hummer wheels/tires and shares some other hardware. It even looks very simular to the rear of a Hummer and is manufactored by Silver Eagle http://silvereaglemfg.com/trailers/overview.asp .

The Silver Eagle manufactured trailer is nice. About twice the size of an M416 with a payload capacity of nearly a ton, tailgate, aircraft grade and chromoly steel construction, independent trailing arm suspension, etc. Wow! Wonder what the military is paying for them?

NSN? Just curious about the price. It's not something I would consider buying. I'll venture a guess at Uncle Sam's acquisition cost to be around $7k. Any others care to guess?
