Been fighting the carburetor and trying to get the Jeep to run right, I think it is running rich. The issue is, I have not driven or seen a V-6 Jeep to know how it should run. I am expecting this Jeep to run like my new truck. I do not know if this is possible.

Started on the rear tank install. Going to cut the rear floor area to make access panel , so the sending can be pulled with out dropping the tank. I put the tank in and used a laser to transfer tank location to the garage floor. Then I took the tank out and figured were the cut out will be in relation to the tank, marked that on the floor. I then transferred location of the Jeep to the floor. These lines will be used to measure the location of the access cut.

It's going to kill me to cut the floor after replacing it, but I think will be worth it, if there is a problem .

why not just fab up a way to drop the tank and tank skid w/o removing everything else? I welded some nuts inside the frame here and there so I could drop the tank fairly easily.

Drilled some holes at the welded edge of the tank to match, put some rubber inbetween the tank and the frame and between the skid and the tank and it's good to go.

I think there are a lot of owners that would like to have this option

When you decide to do it, you need to transfer the location of the tank to the floor or something. Then pull tank, mark the cut out, then points of the Jeep to the floor, then you can measure. Took me about a half hour to do layout, and 15 minutes to recheck. The way I did it, you can not move the Jeep after you start the layout.

I have u nuts on mine, so the tank just bolts up to the frame. Its still a complete :censored: to get in and out...very tight fit! I think Steve has a great idea!

I have thought about an access panel but can’t figure out what kind of fasteners to use since I don’t have much clearance between the floor and top of tank for nuts, but I want the inside of the bed to be somewhat flush...so I’ll be watching.

I have capture nuts for my tank skid plate to drop the tank but between the springs, exhaust, and fill tubes it is still a pain to drop. Right now I have a temperamental gas gauge and if I had an access hatch I would have fixed it by now.

Cut the hole and put the tank in. Happy with the location.

Welded some 3/16 flat stock metal to the floor, then drilled and threaded it for 1/4 x 20 fasteners. Used this method to attach the transmission cover when I replaced my drivers and passenger floor.

Used a round head Stainless Steel fasteners. I think the round head will make it easer to slide stuff in and out of the bed. Once painted, the SS will blend in with the paint I used.

Need to figure out what to put in the rib of the floor at the cuts. If something heavy hits at that point, I feel it will compress the metal. Want to stop this.

Finished up on the rear tank install, repainted the floor. Got the tank filler installed, repositioned the reverse light and repainted the end panel.

    Great job !

Perhaps you could make some appropriately shaped filler plugs out of some UHMW plastic and gorilla glue them in the ends of the ribs for anti- crush support.

They could possibly be made from a thick plastic cutting board.
    Rust free and no welding.

I go some epoxy that is used to set anchor bolts. The only problem it is runny, not made for horizonal surfaces.

The cutting board pieces seems like a great option. You’d probably not even need glue. Wedge’em in there.

Got a gas gauge installed for the rear tank. The one in the cluster will be for the under seat tank. Did not know if the Ohm's readings on the two tanks sending units would be the same, so I got a separate gauge for the rear tank. Did not want to drill the new dash that I installed, so I got a bracket to bolt under the dash.I painted the gauge bracket the same color as the Jeep. Filled one hole that will hold the tank switching switch. The other hole will hold a oil pressure gauge for now, might get a voltage gauge. The gas gauge is programable
