ok i remember someone here ordered the big daddys offroad steering box mount but i cant remember who. did you like it and how well did it fit? it looks real beefy on the website

found out today i got a few $K more money then i thought i had( dont you love it when that happens) so im thinking instead of building a mount why not buy one? maybe then i will be able to make it to tellico

I used one from a 1974 Wagoneer on my 1966 CJ. I boxed the front of the frame and made an extra mount and bolted the bracket to the CJ frame, and then the power steering box to the bracket. You should be able to find one cheap in a salvage yard.

does anyone know of an aftermarket box mount? i think one thing that is holding me up is i am not confident in my fab skills anymore so i am afraid to make my own mount.

hanish i would go to a scrap yard but the problem with local richmond ones is the turnover rate... 1 month. and all the vehicals for the most part are mid80s to late 90s.

Depending on what your looking for - I have used AA's mount and it worked fine for the way I run my Steering.

Yup - in my webshots under the Black 46 there is a couple shots. I refab the front cross member with double 2X Tube and pass the shaft through that. I also redo the radiator mount and put some protection into the engine compartment.

I have never found a mount from one of the others (jeeps or jeepsters) that worked well on these. Now I need to preface with the fact that; I like my boxes higher (stratling the frame) as I have had mounts put in by PO's that had the box low and they caused problems with the frame ears and broken mounts.

It's not as difficult as it sounds - but then I have done WAY to many and have 3 more on my plate over the next 6 months.

HTH - If you want I can try to do a step by step on the next one...

the makeing is not the problem for me. my welder is not up to the task and i dont have anything that is up to cutting out the material... my problem is my fab stuff just is not big enough.
