Mostly as a way to use the original gas-fill spot for *something*...;)

Seems like we're always carrying water anyway - this way with a 12v pump and a couple of accessories we'll be able to fill water bottles, spray down dirty kids, or fill the rad, etc.

    Mike,

You may know this already, but the "city water" fitting that you said you plan on using here from an RV has a backflow preventer that is opposite of what you desire. On an RV, when running with the 12V. pump, the inside of that fitting has pressure. When the RV uses city water, it uses the pressure from the hydrant, and will not even fill the tank. Maybe you plan on not having a backflow prevention, but just FYI.

Also, a question. I have a CJ6, and am looking at suspension options. What springs are you using? and what is your opinion of them?

Hmm...I didn't know that. I actually want to use that piece in the opposite way that it's intended -- as an output rather than an input. I just went and fooled with it a bit and you're right - I can get water through one way but not the other. I wonder if I can pull it apart and re-jigger it.

Currently SSDutch has what I believe to be the original springs on the rear (9 or eleven leaves, can't recall w/o looking) and a set of replacements up front. I have a set of 1" Ranchos that I ran on my '66 CJ5 and plan to install this summer. I was happy with how they rode on the 5.

Ideally...somewhere way down the road I'd like a set of the Holbrook long leaves - but so much to do before I can justify those.

I think we're dangerously close to paint...cleaned out the tub today and hit it with some grease/wax remover plus a good washing with TSP. Almost felt like running for primer...but I know better and will let it dry at least a day or two so all the water is out of the hiding places.

Remembered some welding I wanted to do yet. Since the Jeep wouldn't have had quite enough nuts in it I welded in four more at the rear floor level behind the rear seat - for securing down a cooler or toolbox.

I hit the rusty rear floor section with a flap-disk -- not perfect but enough that I think the paint will stick better. I also filled in some welds on the rollcage legs and tidied up one repair that had some pinholes in it.

    Bought paint this afternoon...again...hope the 3rd time's a charm....

Changed my mind yet again after some wise counsel - and I just wasn't happy with the color choices going the TSC route.

Figure I have a (new in the box) HVLP gun, and all the supplies to go the auto paint route (since I bought them before) - I'm going to try spraying it as it sits in the garage.

I'll go buy some inexpensive drop cloths to cover every thing up with, and the weather is supposed to be nice this coming week I can shoot with all the doors and window open.

It'll be a pain to work around the rollcage - but plan on repainting that as well.

This way I also get to learn how to use my gun on the inside of the Jeep rather than the outside...

He's not even telling me. When he came home earlier from picking up the paint, he hid it.

The last words from his mouth as he just left for a run were, "No snooping!"

So, do I listen to him, or do I snoop? ;)
