Guys, during the rebuild process after the wheel bearing failure I noticed that on the RHS where the spindle mounts to the knuckle that there is an additional steel spacer approx 1/8" thick between the spindle and knuckle. The spacer is a continuous thickness so is not a camber adjustment plate but its only on this side and not the other? Can anyone tell me what it is, why it's there and if it should be there at all. Just so you know the Jeep does have an aftermarket SSBC drum to disk conversion that was installed by the PO. I can't see any reason for it to be there, obviously it was working previously ok but just be happy to figure out why it's there in the first place.

It's not Jeep. Parts book does not show it.

Thanks Tim, I thought the same, I originally thought it might have been a camber adjustment plate but as it's thickness is the same throughout I was baffled by it. I'm going to leave it out and see if there is any stupid reason for it to be there afterwards

The presence or absence will affect how far your axle shaft will protrude into the hub. Maybe the conversion included different shafts so required different spacing. My narrow D30 (still with drums) has alloy shafts that use the larger I-joints. I seem to recall needing Chevy spindle for it to work. Can't recall exactly, what's a long time ago.
