Even the most original, untouched Jeeps I have seen are usualy missing the Hall taillights.
Why do you think this is?
Did they rust out quickly? If so, what made mine last?
Were they subject to collision damage? If so, why do most the Jeeps I see missing them seem to have no damage to the surrounding area?
Did the retaining ring let the lense fail out, and the light needed replaced? I had a retaining ring let my front amber turn signal lense (NOS dangit) fall out on an all day trail ride, but not a taillight. I think it was mostly due to a flat/missing foam gasket.

Course maybe it is just my luck that the ones I see are missing the Halls. But even when looking on Ebay, seems most have been replaced.

    ???

I'm missing mine and have been looking for YEARS for a pair -- no luck. Same with the OEM backup lights. "Simliar" aftermarket stuff out there, but not quite right either.

The aftermarket clear "bullet" or "cone" shape clear reverse lights and amber turn signal lights are excellent reproductions. Except for the words/markings on the lense you can't tell them apart. Well, and the mount studs are a different thread size, and the wire colors/size/plugs are different, but that doesn't show when installed.

Someone needs to repro the hall lights. I remember when I got my Jeep you could not buy the repro turn and backup lights. Maybe we just need to make enough noise. I dread the day I damage one of my originals. Come close twice, and not my fault either time. (knock on wood)

Greg: When I first got my Jeep, I laughed that the tail lights were the same cheap ones that we mounted on boat trailers years ago when I worked in my Uncle's boat shop. Little did I know that they were the orig. Hall's.

The trailer lights make a decent replacement that's hard to tell unless you get down and look.

I have the aftermarket amber turn signals and they are, as you said, very good.
