shocks

    i was just wondering wich shocks to get for my '70 cj with an SOA?, i obviously cant go with stalk length and when i do order some how do i get the right lenght? what mesurements need to be taken to get the correct size? thanks ahead of time

    take the measurement, pin to pin, as it sits on the ground.
    then figure or measure how much extension/compression you need.
    you'll end up with three measurements: extended, compressed, normal
    take these to the FLAPS or wherever you're going to buy your shocks, and match up as close as you can with what is available. Their books will list these measurements.

    You could use a floor jack to lift the frame and get an extended measurement.
    also do the same and get a rough guess on compressed; lift under the axle, but it will only compress so far before it starts to lift the Jeep, so add an inch or two.

    here's an example:
    normal: 15"
    extended: 18"
    compressed: 12"
