Does anyone know the size of the rubber and nylon hoses going from the 2 tank vent ports to the rollover check valve on a 74 6 cyl? I've studied the parts book but it is not real clear on sizes.

I know the config starting on the tank side is rubber hose - black nylon hose - rubber hose. I assume it is 9/16 rubber fuel line, 5/16 nylon fuel line, 9/16 rubber fuel line. Can anyone confirm this?

Also, coming off the check valve to the charcoal canister I assume would be 9/16 rubber fuel line, 5/16 Red nylon fuel line. Can anyone confirm these sizes?

Finally, does anyone know a source for the RED nylon fuel line? Thanks.

I've never seen 9/16" rubber fuel line. Should be 1/4" or 5/16". AFAIK all the fuel and vapor hoses are 1/4" except for the main delivery to the carburetor, which is 5/16".

My advice, if you are unsure, is to remove the hose and match it to what your parts store has.

The parts book likely has listings for the hose sizes, but I don't have that here.

IIRC my '73 had green nylon for the vapor hoses. There were short lengths of rubber hose to join the nylon to the devices, with band spring clamps. Pretty sure the color does not matter regarding function. Nowadays I see mostly black nylon line, since this is what Ford used for the high pressure EFI lines.

A big truck supplier will have nylon hoses in a few different colors. They run it for air lines. Blue service line red emergency line and I've seen green to cab and air ride seats.

I had my measurements mixed up. Rubber line goes by inside diameter right? Which I was thinking was 5/16" but I was quoting 9/16" which is around what the OD would be. Alot of this was hacked by POs long ago which is why I was hesitant to just match things up at the FLAPS. Your answer did help me to narrow things down and I believe you are right the nylon tube is 1/4" not 5/16" and the rubber line is 1/4" ID and (although not important) 5/16" OD.

I know color means nothing to functionality but I recently started a nut and bolt restoration and I'm trying to match every detail as close to factory as possible. Thank you for the help. Much appreciated.

Thanks for the idea. That is a good call and I'll give it a shot.
