Well I guess I should post up here to show what's going on with my 2A... I picked this one up in October of '09 and got started on it pretty quick. It's a very early 2A... #17477. It's almost entirely original with the biggest change being a conversion from a column shift to floor shift at some point.

Here's what it looked like the day I got it... it had been sitting for 8 years and I changed the oil, put new gas in it, hook up a battery, started it up, and drove it a couple miles to the trailer:D

    Just after purchase...

None of the gauges were wired so it was time to see what worked and what didn't... to my surprise, all the gauges worked and the dash light worked.

Hooked up the the headlights and they worked... hi/low switch worked too...

Stripping things down to check the condition of the body panels... looks good thus far... stripped and refinished the front end.

As it sits just now... with boxes of parts showing up almost daily... it'll be up and running in the next couple of weeks for a week in Moab :) I need to wheel it a bit as-is before I start changing things... looking forward to it.

    Stay tuned for updates..

I'm generally over there 2-3 times/month but the big get together is April 10-17. All I really hope to do between now and then is get a quick coat of paint on the outside, tune and lube everything, and get some better tires on it.

For the first step in my little build it's all spray can (Krylon ultra flat tan camo paint)... I'm leaving it that way until something breaks. Once the engine, transmission, or T-case breaks I'll pull the tub off, do the bodywork, and repaint the whole thing properly. Until then, just going to play with it:D

I was, once again, impressed by this little Jeep.

It's been sitting in the back yard for 4 months under a tarp. I went outside and uncovered it, checked the oil level, checked the fuel level, hooked up a battery, started it, and drove it around the block.:rofl:

    These things are awesome! haha

    Tomorrow the work starts (again)

Well... I tried to tune up my engine and wound up confused (again)...

Pulled the plugs.... hmmmm... a little rich?:D
    [IMG]

Then came the compression test... [drum roll]
    60-60-60-60 YIKES!! haha

I added some oil to the cylinders: no change

So it's time to adjust the valves. I pulled off the valve cover and all the tappets were pretty wide (feeler only goes to 0.026 and it had plenty of room). Pic shows the left one adjusted properly vs how wide the others are:

    Compression test again... no change...:?

I'm thinking that it might be good to replace the head gasket, retorque the head, and do a leakdown test... unless there are any suggestions...

Outside paint got finished today... didn't get the rear rack done though. Time to start work on the "interior" and see if i can get the mixture and timing sorted out... ;)

looks good! I have one question. Why is the windshield a single piece? Shouldn't it be split?
