replaceing shackles QUESTION / HELP

    Anybody have an easy way to remove old shackle bushings out of the front and rear leaf springs on a 65.cj5..These are steel bushings not brass../ bought replaceable GREASEABLE this time around make it easy on the next guy...

    Think I heated up the rubber with a little propane torch til it began melting and then drove that out with a wooden dowl rod. I could then use a hacksaw blade to saw thru the outer steel which remained in the spring. Once you have that groove sawed into that, you can use a chisel to beat, bang, and tear it out. Good luck. It's not much fun but " Jeep work is good work."
