Does anyone here know if the casting number 991503 block uses a different rebuild kit than the other 225 V6 blocks??? I ordered my kit from AutoZone after confirming the casting number and so far none of the freeze plugs they sent fits anything on my block, the main bearing (thrust) they sent has the small tit that seats it about 1/8 of an inch outboard to the slot cut into the cap. My mech. is about ready to call it quits. Any ides or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We thought the freeze plug thing was just a goof at the warehouse but AutoZone says the bearing kit is the correct part number for the engine.
    Getting worried

A search on your casting number only yielded one almost useful site. It comes up as a Buick casting number on musclecarclub.com. I can't find the reference on the site, however. :(
Have you tried exchanging the kit for another? Sometimes the wrong parts get put in a box with the right part number. I've had it happen.

Weird. Shows as a normal 225 in my casting numbers. I think it's the same # my V6 has IIRC.

I always wondered why it was different than the other casting #s that all began with 12 or 13 but to the best of my knowledge up till now there was nothign special about it.

Thanks for trying guys. AutoZone says it is the correct part number and they cant find anything else related so we then went to ABC Auto and they ordered another set of bearings that turned out to be the exact same as the set AutoZone sold us but they did show another part number that will have to be special ordered next monday and we are hoping that it will be the correct set. Still worried and hoping I didnt waste my money on all that machine work for nothing. If it works out I will let you guys know. The rod bearings that came with the kit fit fine just the mains wont work, they are too narrow and the tit is in the wrong place.
