Easy. Think of all the times you will spend $600. What's one more?

Wouldn't call it a lawnmower, but a "mowing machine." For making hay.

I have two or three of those from when I had work-horses. And one still right where it was abandoned before I was born, in the forest now, trees grown up all around it.

If it has a six-foot cutter bar it was for a team. A four-foot bar and narrow track was for a single horse. Most of them got wore out being towed by tractors or trucks later on.

Paid $50 each for mine, but that was a while back. Now everyone wants them for yard art.

My dad had the sickle mower attachment that would fit on the side of his 2A until he told me he sold it for $60.

Sickle bar. Cut grass or wheat with it. Windrow it and make hay.

My uncle used one like that for hay along with a rake to make rows- no fancy pants dag-gum-it baling machines for him- it got forked onto the truck & went up nto the loft via horse drawn hay fork :)

Except for one time the horse wanted the day off & he had to use his '75 Malibu :D

As was said most horse equipment was converted to be pulled by something else. My brother-in- laws father who has since passed on a few years back grew up with horse equipment and had a variety he would use one those days when it felt right. How could see the simple joy on his face hauling his kids, great and grand into his mid 80’s. Now I’m done rambling.

I remember that NCDOT used to mow the highway right-of-way with a Sickle Bar mounted on the side of a Jeep back in the 1960's. Not quite as antique as this one.
