Well today I found a stamping on the outside part of the drivers side near the framehorn "425L" It has nothing to do with my vin and the vin number is also stamped onto the frame in the normal places. Any idea what it is?

no idea, but when i sandblasted my frame and painted it i came up with alot of numbers similar to what you describe, every piece of the frame as i recall had some sort of number stamped into it but there was no vin stamped anywhere,it was a 1951 m38a1 frame,if that makes any difference, only thing that i could think of was that they used these numbers during assy sort of like putting a numbered jigsaw puzzle together, interested to see what the other members come up with

:iagree: completly, I've found a lot of numbers like that, if you look at the right side you'll probably find a "425R" on it. Cross members have thier own if you look close enough. Same thing on the axles, the tubes & pumpkins are similarly numbered.
