The sad part is, that pump, bracket, and steering gear are still sitting on my garage floor in front of the Jeep
I have everything I need to install power steering....except time, that is.

The low mount later model pump bracket will not clear the FWD dump manifold, as ColoJeepGuy said. I tried that one, too.
The 3-piece bracket with 1 aluminum casting and 2 stamped steel brackets worked fine on my '71 with no fender modification.

This same bracket arrangement was used on the Jeepsters, also.

There is also an earlier aluminum bracket with an older type pump that works.

    I had this same problem.
Wish I had seen this thread when I was doing my conversion, but glad I saw it before I cut up my fender!
Now I just have to figure out what to do about my very poorly positioned low pressure port on the steering pump that routs the line directly into the belt. I guess I’ll see how far it bends before it crimps or breaks.

Maybe find a different pump can that has the line in a better location.

X2 The one I just bought has a 90° elbow on the return line attached to the pump

I put some leverage to it last night and think it will work. I was able to stop myself before I broke something.
When I was collecting parts for my swap, that wasn’t even something I considered and was only concerned with whether it had a o-ring or flare fitting on the pressure side.
