Trying to install a power steering pump on my Dauntless (stock '70 CJ-5)
I have the high mount style bracket from a late 60's Buick. Everything bolts up, but the pump is hitting my inner fenderwell. I got it all bolted to the engine but the adjustment is all the way in, even inward of the adjustment slots a little bit, and the pump is against the fender. Anyone run into this before? What's my solution?

Does that pulley even line up? Looks off in the 2nd picture.............and do you have a front dump manifold?

I'm pretty sure the pulley will line up once everything is bolted up solid...the interference with the fender is preventing the pump from sitting where it needs to be.
The exhaust is all stock, that's why I went with the high mount style bracket.

I have the high mount as well, and it clears my fender. When I mocked it up, it cleared by about an inch or so.

If I had this clearance problem and didn't want to modify the fender, I'd first look at moving the pump closer to the cast bracket. It looks like the steel part of the bracket could be shortened, moving the pump away from the fender. Second, the pump tank is just a sheet metal can around the pump internals. One could modify the can to have more clearance on the fender side. Realy, the tidiest way out of this is to modify the fender. Cut out the section shown and move the part that interferes back. The gap could be filled with flat stock.

Space it off the head and use the first groove on the water pump

Something looks off on yours. This is how my power steering pump is mounted on mine.

Is there a way to move your pump up? Flip the bracket maybe.

Mine looks like piffey's...Your pump is sitting too low in the bracket.

    Not the best angle.

The pictures posted by PieLut in the Saginaw conversion thread look like what I have...but the brackets I have didn't all come together so they may be mismatched.

Here's mine (before I made my engine pretty:) ).

It looks like a different bracket than yours but it works well and keeps the pump out of the way.

    I think it's a 350 Buick bracket.

I see what your trying to do here... trying to out compete other members by having the prettiest engine.

    back on topic...

I wonder if one of us guys with the high mount aluminum can take pictures of the metal brackets themselves to compare with the original posters? Also, I have wondered about the difficulty of having the metal brackets made? Looks like 3 bends for one piece of metal.

I have that bracket too but it won't work with stock exhaust manifolds.
