a little progress the past few days........
got the form fit rubber mat installed up front over the insulation, boy it was a pain!!!!. Unless that stuff is hot it won't budge....took full sun and a heat gun to get it fit to all the nooks and crannys.
I then started putting the carpet in

still have quite a bit to do....gonna carpet the sides of the tub and wheel wells tomorrow
I also worked on a few other projects....in order to mount the computer high up against cowl I needed to shorten the depth of the glove box. I ended up just making a new box for that out of 20-24 gauge metal
The bracket that supported my front seats have been bugging me ......having them mounted on the top of the tub/door opening has caused some blood letting ......so I modded them so they mount to the floor instead

think I'll make a center console while I'm this far along :)

yea I thought about that but rarely have it out in the rain......and I have a full soft top for winter
got the rest of the carpet in today.....for the sides I used 3M 80 spray glue to prep the back for small double sided tape tabs
    [IMG]
figure that will hold the carpet but still allow removal in the future.......here's the rest

really looking forward to that, and to how the radio sounds as well. This whole process started however because of heat coming through the floor......my right ankle always got burned on long trips and the girls complained about the hot floor on beach trips......hoping this takes care of those problems

Oh, yeah. I carpeted the rear only of mine, and no insulation, and it's like a whole different Jeep. Quiet, and yes, the radio sounds better.

Ok last few pics of the carpet job. Got the new glovebox installed (after more mods ) and all the wiring cleaned up. Since I had the shifters off I took the opportunity to buy and install the missing anti- rattle clipsfor the D18. I also found the cable on the antenna had pulled out of the housing so I bought a flush mount unit to replace it.
I cut up a old carpeted rubber mat for floor mats

in this pic you can see the abbreviated seat support
    [IMG]
and finally a antenna that telescopes out to 31", finally good radio reception :)

just need to finish wiring spot lights and I'll be done.
    Last project is OBA :D

went cruizen today and just a quick report......WOW just WOW :D
no heat through the floor at the tunnel. I was wearing flip flops and could not detect heat on my feet. The acoustics are hands down better, the radio sounds better/ louder/clearer than before
very happy with what ended up being a $90 expenditure

when I carpeted the tub I cut the filler neck for the front tank off. I will never have a tank up front again and removing that piece really clears up space next to the seat. I cut a piece of 1/8" aluminum to fit the outside indent then used 2 sided 3M tape to secure it in place. I plan on riveting it place later
    [IMG]
I also finally placed the e cj5 logo........better to pimp the site :D

    OBA is next...........

    thanks

your a glutton for punishment .......you know I worked on cars most of my life but usually with tutelage, never had the money to do frame off. I bought this and it became the mother of all father/son projects. I learned a ton and got to pass that on to my boy, his passion for jeeps is huge now.......stuff money can't buy :driving::p
