Are you going to take it to show the previous owner? You really should, just to show she went to a good home and you're treating her right. I'm sure he'd be pleased.[/QUOTE]

I took it by the farm equip repair shop where it had been parked for several months to show them yesterday. Two or three of the guys were bemoaning the fact that they didn't purchase it. I got a thumbs up and...NO it's not for saleR) .

Gee mine came off a ranch too only had 26,000 miles on it mostly off road it,s a little rough . I promised the two sisters I would not change how it looked.I showed it to one of the ladies a few days ago and it brought tears to her eyes as I kept my promise. Her mother painted the brand on both sides in 1961 when it was bought. They sold it to me for 300.00 cause it was going to a good home.

So I pcked up "sarge" last weekend to help me fufill project "kahuna".
It's a 52 M38A1 that has most everything done that I'd planned for my 6.
289 ford motor, 4 speed tranny, D18or20? TC, D30? open knuckle w/ disc, D44 rear w/ 13" drums (yes 13"), 5.38 gears, PB firewall mounted, PS saginaw, rear mounted gas tank, tilt column, interesting dash, tube built front fenders, 33 12/50-15 tires.
The plan is to swap these componets over to Kahuna, and Kahuna's over to Sarge, just a small projectR).
Driving Sarge is an experience, shocks are shot...I can rock the tub by 1'to2' by hand. The front axle is 2 1/2" wider than the rear, feels like your on a pivot goin round a corner. The clutch linkage is harder to depress than the brakes on the 6:(, when it does engage its squrilly:rofl:
All in all this is gonna be fun!
    I've also got a NTW 2" lift coming...woohoo!!!

I know I still owe you pics from my NTW 2" lift. I got the front done and got sidetracked with the disc upgrade..... Now I have parts and need time. Hardest part on the front was removing the bushings from the shackle bracket on the frame. One side pressed out with a ball joint tool, and used the hacksaw method on the other. FYI the springs are military wrap so you may need new shackles.

getting ready for this weekends trip to Big Bear....
spent the afternoon at a metal supply yard bending up a front hoop, 2 spreader bars, a rear span hoop, and 2 rocker guards 5"x3"x1/4" angle.
Spent this evening cutting all to fit w/ a hole saw, gonna weld it up at work tommorow...pics of completed job then...

so here are pics of the completed rollbar, rock guards, and seat belts.
Hopefully the rollbar works out alright. I've never built one before so I took what I gleaned from this site to design it.

Looks great, but that bar above the rear seat looks like a headbanger. Will you be issuing helmets to the back seat passengers?:)

started tearing down Sarge ( the donor) this evening.
The PO did some really good things and some really suspect work as well. The rear cross member had been removed and a gas tank installed, but no provision to re-attach the rear of the tub:shock:.
The clutch linkage is a disaster, but a AA chain linkage was included in the parts:)
Looks like I have a rear wheel bearing leaking, and the TC as well.
Still trying to decide if I'll use the dash (pretty unique, but needs work) or the original uncut version in the 6.
I'm undecided on using the original front fenders or the tube built units on the donor(kinda like the tube fender look)
The saginaw box is 3 turns from stop to stop. From what I've read there may be advantage to finding a slower box...true???
Gonna need to brace the master cylinder mounted to the firewall, has lots of flex.
Pics coming as the tear down progresses

Got the front clip stripped off Sarge, pulled the tilt coloumn, started pulling the dash....PO tack welded it the the tub:(, suppose trying to protect the $69 radio
Little grinding tomorrow then work on removing tub. Hopefully ready to pull motor/trans/TC this weekend, plus axles ,springs, steering/brake componets
Be nice if it went back together as easy as it comes apart:rofl:

Got the tub off...ready to pull motor/tranny/TC on sat.
    Tranny reads...T18 1B WG DIV
Gas tank is a custom...1/8" metal w/ tabs welded to the frame
    Not sure whose adapter trans/TC?
things are moving along fine:), frame is solid, body will need some attention
    Jim S.
ps...neighbor in pic thinks I'm making good progress, but doesn't feel inclined to come help
