It's all part of the plan. My springs are almost flat with the weight on them. So my shackles only move about an inch on the first part of compression. As the springs go into a negative arch the shackles actually move forward. On droop I have the full arch of the spring plus the length (6 1/2") of the shackle. The shackle is set at 40* with the full weight of the Jeep on the springs. I took some of my ideas from friends vehicles that I run with, tweaked them a little and came up with this. Of course, until I get out and run Posi, it's all theoretical. Here's a shot from one of my mock-ups, fully weighted. By the way, I've seen rigs with shackles set even flatter than this.

This is what I've been looking forward to!
Here I have the front of the tub supported by the A frame and the rotisserie is holding up the rear. In the end, this didn't work, so I moved the hoist back to the middle of the tub and suspended it from there. That's the front frame for the rotisserie still attached to the tub.

Rolling the frame under the tub.

It's suspended from eye bolts run through two body mounts. One inside the toolbox and one that I added that's under the driver's seat.

Free at last. Done with the rotisserie. And, I got the battery holder and battery installed.

Seeing the tub back where it belongs gives me great motivation for my own rebuild.
I bet you can't wait for that first drive!

bkd: Yup, my wife's already mentioned that one. But I have a hardtop that needs TLC and some paint too.

Okkie: I'm into my 16th month on this project. My original estimate was 4 months. ;)
I'm planning a trip to Rubicon Springs the Sat. after Thanksgiving (Nov. 27th) weather permitting.

Oh sure, no updates fooooooooorever. We start a race and then all of the sudden you have a finished drive train, and a tub is done and mounted, and it turns out you will probably have some time to finish it off tomorrow... I just got sandbagged :)

    Looks great!

May try to join you for that. I don't think my body can handle the driving required to make it this weekend. Leave SJ at 7:00am, arrive N Shore by 12:30PM, hit trail by 1:00PM, wheel all day and part of night, back to N. Shore by 12:00AM. IF everything goes good!

Thanks ya'll for the good words. Don't worry Thompology, I still have a long way to go. I spent all day today making a new steel skin for my tailgate area. I had diamond plate aluminum before. Decided to go with a steel panel this time. I didn't have time to finish all the spot welding, but I'm hoping to get it done and painted before Sunday when the temps start dropping here. Need to paint the dash panel too and I haven't even started taking all the gauges and speedo out yet.

Jeff: You are certainly welcome to do the Thanksgiving trip with us. Assuming we don't have any real snow before then. We've never run into anyone else down there at that late date. This year it'll be Nov. 27th / 28th. Bring Ryan if it works out. We usually have 4 -6 rigs on that trip.

Almost finished the tailgate panel today. I'll be painting it Sat.

Here's the panel with all the plug welds done. 30 of them.

After grinding all the welds flush or a little low, I used spot putty to clean them up.

Spot putty sanded and ready for primer.

    2 coats of sandable primer.

For me the tailgate was useless and a source of rattles. Also, filling in the opening with a steel framework helps make the body more rigid. Plus it's one more spot that seems to attract rust.

OK Thompology, you had a chance to blow by me today as I feel like I didn't get much done. I stripped all the paint from the dash and glovebox door, fixed one of my plug welds on the tailgate filler that let go. I also welded up all the unused holes in the dash. It's all primed and ready to paint. Hoping the temps are warm enough here tomorrow cuz there only getting colder throughout the week. It's raining here right now.
