Didn't have much time to spend on the Heep today. But I did get the front fenders cut and prepped for paint.......almost. Pic is not very good, but you get the idea. Do you think they got enough spot weld on that panel? Every one of those putty spots is a spot weld from the factory. Ha Ha

The cut on those fenders looks vaguely familiar!
Looking good John, keep the updates coming.

Buttoned up the engine last week. New rear main seal, timing chainset, hammered the dent out of the bottom of the pan, installed the new manifold. I had to set the Powerjection on top, but it isn't installed yet. I'll wait until I have the engine back in the frame. I got the exhaust manifolds from a friend of mine who used to have a Dauntless (1969). He was told they were Camaro manifolds. I'll pull the PN's and see if I can verify that. It would open up a whole new source the drivers side swap for Saginaw conversion.

Did they get you all hooked up for the plumbing on the Powerjection?

What did you use to attach the corner guards? I was just about to stick mine on.

Warloch: Retrotek had all the parts except the 90* male/female fitting. I got that through Summit. As soon as I have the tub back on I'm going to mock up a gas tank out of cardboard and get that rolling. Then I can figure out where the pump is going and how I'm going to run the fuel lines.

Thompology: I used stainless screws (next size down from 1/4") with stop nuts . I used several C-clamps and started at the corner and worked both directions. They never fit exact.

You did a good job opening up the wheel wells for the stretch, So much better than comp cuts, IMHO.

Thanks, Long&Low. I didn't want to comp cut it, so I just kept trimming back until the tires cleared.

krkx93: Those are BFG Krawlers 13.50 x 35 They have bulletproof sidewalls.

The BFG KM's are really nice tires too for quite a bit less $. Trails here are mostly very rocky and the Krawler sidewalls really hold up well. The KM's have really great traction on the rocks, but the sidewalls aren't as tough. But the Krawlers have the look.

Im really leaning towards a set of KM2's once my LTB's wear out. I got to check prices, but the other tire (pending on how much more they are) I going to check more on is the Maxxis Creepy Crawler and the Trepador comp. Build is lookin really good and like those corners you installed. ALOT better then comp cutting in my book.

Finished with the paint today (except for the tailgate panel I haven't fabricated yet). I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. A long way from perfect, but looks great........from about 8 - 10 feet away. Actually, for my first paint job that didn't come out of a rattlecan I'm happy. Tomorrow I get to start putting things back together.

The color doesn't really show up in these pics. It's a gray/green. It's sage actually.
