Ok, since you all may or may not know I'm restoring my cute little purple CJ5 RI. I went to painters supply the other day and asked if they knew of the paint code etc. I got this look  :? . Is there any more clarification for color other than 999? Or do I have to physically take them the Jeep and see if they can match it up? Kinda like house paint? Let me know your thoughts.

Best bet is to take the Jeep to them. They'll have a portable device that they'll set on the paint that will read the color and either give them a match or a custom mix.

Under the dash is usually a good spot...or rub out/wax a spot to get it as nice as possible for a match.

I agree, get a spot that wasn't exposed to the sun. Under the dash, and under the hood are good places.

Mix instructions (code) for the Plum Poly is available. Color matching isn't necessary.

yup, if they've got the book you should be able to pull the color code from dupont or whichever company they're using. that's all that needs to happen assuming they've got a paint chip book for that year handy.

Painters Supply prolly pitched that book a long time ago. Someone has to have the measurements somewhere. Ask around some old-school parts stores that use to (or still) mix paint and have dusty code books. Try an old NAPA store. They used to mix Martin Senour back in the day.

Other Jobbers carried R-M Paints, Sherwin Williams, PPG, Dupont.

I's out there, just need to hunt it down. I'll call the paint store over here (very old-school and keeps everything).

It's great to hear from another Renegade I owner. I've got the green version in original condition. You should be able to find the paint at any PPG or DuPont dealer. I checked online but did not find any listings for 1970 Jeep colors. I'd love to see pictures of your project. Below is the link to pics of my garage queen. The wife doesn't let me drive it much. Have fun with your restoration and let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
