Acutally, Scott (dude with the trailer) made the lid. IIRC, he used square tubing, made a square that set on the edges of the frame, attached hinges on one side, made a couple of cross members and covered it with plywood. As for the tent, he looked into becomming a distributor for the tent company but did not find much interest. A couple of us wanted one of the tents. I like the appeal that the tint unfolds in a matter of seconds and you sleep off the ground.

For Jeeping and camping in the woods, I think this is the perfect set up........short of airlifting in a Winabago.

Great looking trailer! [IMG] I couldn't wait to get that one laid up & stripped down. If like mine it will become an old friend. I may have traded 4WDs many times and moved on, but the one one thing that remained constant thru' out the years had been "Banty" the Bantam. Great find!
Central MO, huh? I'm just southwest of you.

I am about 1/2 way through the stripping process. I need to get my butt in gear and get back to work on it.

Could you post more pics please. I would like to get more ideas from it. What did you use as a base to the tent? Was the tent custom? Details details please.

I extended the hitch to make room for the propane mount, storage box and spare tire. I used hitch tubing so I can change the ends of it from an pintle hitch, to a regular ball mount or to the lock and load hitch that I am planning to buy. The frame for the tonneu cover is 3/4 inch square tubing that I made to fit on top of the bed. It is hinged on the passenger side and tilts with the help of two stuts. The Tent is a Roof Top Tent from Mombassa I believe. I got mine on sale and it was very reasonable priced compared to others on the market. I like it alot. It is very well made for the money with a heavy tent material and solid aluminum frame. There is also a three inch thick foam mattress that folds up inside of it. I connected the tent to the frame work with the Thule rack and just used the tonneau cover to keep the rain and moisture out of the trailer. As you can see from the pics I made it so I could open the top with the tent set up so I could still have access to the contents inside the trailer. I had the floor replaced and herculinered the interior and bottom of it for rust protection. I also had the frame sandblasted and powder coated. All in all it took about 6 months to build.
